Hey Everyone! Welcome to my Yasuo Guide for S12!
-My IGN is SenpaiVenus and I play on OCE. I've played Yasuo for a little over 2 and a half years now, gathering myself over 1.3 million mastery points. I may not be Yassuo and having a 100% WR in Challenger but I hope you can learn a thing or two from this guide!
-Yasuo is a great addition to your champion pool: He is flexible in many different roles and play styles, he has a High Skill ceiling and is very fun to play and reliable (Normally apart of the Meta).
Runes
Runes are the bread and butter of your league experience. Without the right runes, it can be almost impossible to win and play Yasuo. Below are the main choices for runes. All of the Precision keystones are good on Yasuo and can be flexed to fix the lane. Resolve is the go to secondary path as it provides Yasuo with much needed tankiness and healing. Feel Free to change the Secondary Path to Domination, if you want more damage and healing. Change the Defence Mini Rune to MR if needed.
- Lethal Tempo - Default
- Conqueror - Use Top against Tanks and Brusiers
- Fleet Footwork - Use against Poke
- Hail of Blades - Very Experimental
Summoner Spells
Summoner Spells are an important part of the game and can make or break your game. Choosing the right Spells can greatly increase your chances of winning the game. Flash is always a must take but with the second spell, you can be flexible.
Skill Path
Yasuo's skill path is normally very rigid but can be flexed early depending on the lane.
- Default
- No Ranged Abilities
- E Start - Early Moblilty

Item Builds
Yasuo's builds can be very flexible past his core items and can serve many different roles in the team. Always try and rush into core then build items depending on matchups and team comps. When playing Yasuo Top, try and build more tankier items to make up for the frontliner that the team is now missing. Mid Lane is much more flexible with items and playstyles. Try and build against champions you're expecting to fight.
Matchups and Synergies
Yasuo's matchups are rarely extremely unplayable or the freest lane in the world. If the player is skilled enough, you can win any lane but I'm not. I've put together some tips and tricks to many of Yasuo's common matchups. Take Tempo in most matchups unless told otherwise.
- Skill Lanes
- Losing Lanes
- Winning Lanes
Vladimir is a very annoying matchup to play against as he has infinite healing and does lots of damage with his empowered Q. Rush grievous wounds into Vladimir. Try and block his W with your W. Try to take trades after he uses his empowered Q.
Yasuo is skill matchup for reasons I won't go into. Better Int Wins.
Yasuo's own brother can be a bother to play against. Take Tempo and block his third Q with your W. Kite him in his E with your E. Take trades after he uses his E.
Viktor is a lane, I would take
into. Try not to ult in his E or you will just stunned. You can block his Q and W with your W. You can look for all in's whenever your healthy. Viktor can be bursted down after he uses all his main abilities.Zed is a skill matchup until 6 when it becomes more Zed favoured but as long as you W his double Q. Zed's Ult will always end up behind you. Look to Q behind you when he ults.
Diana is a champion I always struggle to lane against. She has many different build options to go with. Full Burst, Tank and much more. Look to kite her out with your E and run whenever she ults. Block Q with W.
Sylas can be beaten after he uses W and doesn't have Conqueror stacked up. Block his E with your W and ALSO BLOCK HIS R WITH YOUR W!
Ahri since her mini rework heals a lot more and does more damage. Watch out for her E because if she lands it, she will chunk you. Engage after W-ing her E.
Xerath is an annoying champion to lane against because of the constant poke, you have no kill presure if he takes barrier or exhaust. Look to go in with JG and catch him without his E.
Qiyana is another annoying laner to play against as she can just dash around (Sounds famillar). Try to block her Q with your W and play around her ult CD. YOU CAN W HER ULT!
Take Fleet Footwork and Bone Plating into Renekton also start Doran's Shield. Poke early with Q but after 3 play safe and farm up for the late game. Call JGer for help and maybe get a few kills on him. If Renekton's Fury Bar is full, he will be looking for an engage and if he does stun you, HE WILL KILL YOU.
Darius is another common Yasuo counter pick, take Lethal Tempo and try and dodge his Q by using your E onto him to engage also take Doran's Shield. Watch out for cheese start with W and Ghost. If Darius gets 5 stacks, never try to fight him. He will one shot you with his Ult.
Garen is a counter lane for Yasuo, also take Lethal Tempo and Doran's Shield. Kite Garen with your E when he uses his Q. Take trades early on in the lane when Garen is weak and stack your Tempo and try and get a kill on him. It will take you miles in winning the lane.
Tryndamere is a gross champion and you will lose every fight post 6 if his ult up. Take Fleet and try and farm up for late game.
Jax is a great counter to Yasuo, his E with block your autos and you will die if not careful. Take Tempo and try and fight him after he wastes his E. Plated Steelcaps are a great option in this matchup.
Sett is another Gross champion. Sett is only bareable if he doesn't rush BORK (Blade of the Ruined King) and even if he doesn't still a hard laner to play against. Take Tempo again and Whenever he W's you, E him to dodge it and wait out the shield.
Tahm Kench is a very tanky champion with lots of shields and CC, try not to fight him at all unless it's a certain kill. Take Fleet and farm up for late game.
Riven is the Master Killer and will burst you down if you're not careful. Try to abuse her early with Tempo, farm up and call JG for a gank. Late game, she becomes more bareable and duels become more of a skill matchup.
Fiora can heal and will heal. Rush grievous wounds. She will take every vital she can. Take Tempo and start Doran's Shield. Run away if she ults you. You can block her W with your W and play around her W cooldown.
Rumble may not counter Yasuo but he counters SenpaiVenus. He is not a meta champion anymore but can still burst you down if you don't play carefully. Take Tempo and only fight when you can burst him down fast enough so he doesn't have enough time to kill you.
Gangplank can be a hard matchup to win against if you don't play the lane often. Try and kill his barels before he can use them. HE CAN W YOUR ULT! When you ult be ready to keep fighting straight away. Block Q's with your W.
Nasus can be a fun lane to play against before he can one shot you. Take Tempo and hope to burst him down before he can stack up his Q. Kite him with your E and punish him whenever he tries to get stacks.
Kled is a no win matchup and will burst you down and be tanky enough to sustain the whole fight. Take Fleet, play back and hope for ganks. Block his Q with your W.
Poppy will stop any dashes you hoped to make. Take Tempo into this lane and hope for the JGer to help you.
Wukong is a hard matchup to play against, he will sustain through the whole fight and take away any armour with his Q. Take Tempo and farm up for late Game. Abuse Wukong early for kills and poke him down after he uses W.
Shen will just E-Q-W you everytime you fight. Try and kite his E and play around his W cooldown. Take Conqueror and fight him early. Try and knock him up whenever he looks for an ult.
Twisted Fate is an easy lane for Yasuo, he has no counter for your dashes and will look to shove in and roam. Make sure he can't. W whenever he gets gold card then look for an all in.
Lux is another free lane for Yasuo, look to all in whenever you can. If she takes barrier, try and make her waste it then look for the kill. Wind Walll blocks 3/4 of her kit. Make sure not to waste it or you might be bursted down by her full combo.
Seraphine is the easiest of all the matchups. Just dash in and kill her. Block her ult with your W. Be careful of their JG and watch out for ganks.
Ryze is an easy-ish matchup for Yasuo, you can't block his W but you can block his main damage with W. Look for an early all in. Try to snowball your lead before he scales.
Kayle is a hard scaling champion that will beat you late game but for the early game, it's your time to fight her. Look for all in's whenever you can. Kite her Ult with E and play around its cooldown.
Veigar can be an easy lane if he doesn't get fed of an early fight. You can ult out of his E and block his Q &R with your W. Look to burst him down whenever he doesn't have E.
Heimerdinger can be annoying to play against whenever he gets liandry's with his Q. Look to block his E and engage for a free kill. You can dash to his turrets.
Katarina is a winning lane for Yasuo, as long as you can kite her daggers and block her Ult with your W. You can all in early with Tempo and Ignite. Becomes much harder to kill when she gets
.Teemo can be an easy lane while you are both even and if you block his Q with your W. Take Tempo and Ignite and look to all in him whenever you can.
Thank you for reading so far, this guide is still a work in progress so it will be updated soon! <3
