Hello and welcome, i'm 4gunshoot, a plat ADC main[EUW]
i'm here to introduce you to the infestor of Zaun sewers, none other than,
Twitch
.
One of oldest character in League of Legends and considered to be an hypercarry, is a great and unique pick that surprises enemies in SoloQ thanks to camouflage.
if you're the type of player that likes to be "sneaky, sneaky ~ Twitch" and assasinate others the plague rat can't be on your mains list, but without further ado, let's jump into action.
PROS
+ Camouflage* + Late game monster + Assasin type playstyle + Versatile build (AP/AD)
CONS
- Poor early game -Low mobility -Vulnerable to cc - No hard CC in kit other than a little slow - Hard to play from behind
*Camouflage
Camouflage is a form of stealth that renders a unit hidden from enemy vision for a long period of time and it also grants ghosting.
Camouflaged units are revealed while being inside the line of sight (e.g. not in the fog of war, behind terrain, or blocked by nearsight) of a nearby enemy champion (with the range depending on the ability), when within the vision radius of an enemy
Control Ward
(900 units), or from sources of True Sight (like
Heightened Senses
)
Camouflaged units will briefly shimmer whenever they take damage. A unit will shimmer for every instance of damage they take, and shimmering does not make a unit targetable nor remove the stealth effect, but grants positional information to the enemy.
When a camouflaged unit can be seen, they will be warned by an exclamation mark above them indicating they have been spotted.
Abilities
Deadly Venom
Ability
basic attacks on-hit apply a stack of Deadly Venom for 6 seconds, stacking up to 6 times. The duration of Deadly Venom refreshes on subsequent applications.
Deadly Venom is a poison.
Each
Deadly Venom
deals 6/12/18/24/30 (based on level) (+ 2.5% AP) true damage per second over 6 seconds, for a maximum of 36 / 72 / 108 / 144 / 180
(based on level) (+ 15% AP) true damage with each tick at 6 stacks.
Deadly venom scales a lot during the game and does even better when building AP, is also useful beacuse true damage can't be lowered by armor or magic resist.
Deadly venom is considered a "poison"which means
Cassiopeia
's damage benefit from it.
Ambush
Ability
ACTIVE: After a 1 second delay, Twitch becomes camouflaged for a duration. Attacking or casting
Venom Cask
or
Contaminate
ends
Ambush
immeadiately.
During
Ambush
, Twitch gains 10% bonus movement speed, increased to 30% when he moves toward enemy champions within a 1000-range radius who cannot see him.
Upon breaking stealth Twitch gains bonus attack speed for 5 seconds.
Ambush
's cooldown is reset if an enemy champion dies while afflicted with Deadly Venom.
Activating "recall" during the 1-second delay allows him to channel it while camouflaged.
Venom Cask
Ability
ACTIVE: Twitch hurls a cask of venom at the target location, applying a
Deadly Venom
to all enemies hit within the area and granting sight of the area.
The area then becomes contaminated for 3 seconds, applying a
Deadly Venom
stack each second to all enemies within and slowing them.
Venom Cask can only apply a maximum of 4 Deadly Venom stack per enemy.
Contaminate
Ability
ACTIVE: sends out a lethal toxin to each nearby enemy afflicted by
Deadly Venom
dealing each of them physical damage at the end of the cast time.
Contaminate
deals additional physical damage and 33% AP magic damage for each stack of
is required to cast this ability, and targets do not have to be visible to be affected.
Spray and Pray
Ability
ACTIVE: Twitch gains bonus attack damage and 300 bonus attack range for 6 seconds, during which his basic attacks are replaced by bolts that travel slightly further than his attack range in a straight line, dealing damage to every enemy unit they collide with in their path.
The bolts deal 100% − 60% (based on enemies hit) of the attack's damage, apply on-hit effects at 100% effectiveness to all targets and each attack can critically strike all its targets.
The extra distance that the bolts travel scales with bonus attack range
-R empowered autoattacks can be dodged -Twitch targets his line attack at his target's location at the start of his attack windup, the bolts reach targets at a delay(composed of Twitch's windup time and distance the bolt has to travel at finite speed),which means even the primary target can dodge the attack if they are moving quickly enough.

Runes
In this section, i discuss Twitch most common setups,
Basically PTA amplifies your damage against single enemy champion after hitting them with 3 consecutive autoattacks and also applies bonus adaptive damage, overall empowering your early game presence, considering that your trading pattern consist of stacking
Deadly Venom
as much as possible in order to deal more damage with
Contaminate
, you're going to proc
Press the Attack
while stacking your passive.
Lethal Tempo
---> EMPOWER YOUR MID/LATE GAME TEAMFIGHTS
LT recquires a lot of time to become efficient, early game is very hard to stack it, unless enemies are afk, by the time you've reached 4/ 5 stacks, they have already won the trade.
-"why pick lethal tempo then?"
The answer is simple, when combining lethal tempo with
Spray and Pray
you're able to stack it to his max value very easily, and not only that, the longer the game goes, the more you appreciate this rune, when reaching mid/late game if you mix
Ambush
bonus atk speed +
Lethal Tempo
( atk.speed + range) +
Spray and Pray
, your DPS becomes unmatchable .
- My opinion -
Personally, i'm not a huge fan of
Press the Attack
, because i think
Twitch
's main ability during mid-late game consist of shredding multiple targets at the same time and
Lethal Tempo
gives me more in this sense, but regardless i suggest to try both and choose which ever fit your playstyle the most.
Legend: Alacrity
VS
Legend: Bloodline
Here you can chose whatever you like the most, both offer valuable stats, i slightly prefer
Legend: Alacrity
because i think atk speed is better and i already reach good amount of lifesteal with
Taste of Blood
+
Treasure Hunter
and
Blade of The Ruined King
, but i tend to switch over to
Legend: Bloodline
when facing hard matchups and i know with that extra lifesteal i'd be able to survive.
Coup de Grace
VS
Cut Down
Coup de Grace
gives more versatility compared to
Cut Down
, you're going to proc it every time you lower enemy hp below 40%, so i highly suggest to take it almost every time, but when facing particularly tanky comp,
Cut Down
is for sure a viable option.
Domination - secondary
Taste of Blood
+
Treasure Hunter
/
Ultimate Hunter
/
Ingenious Hunter
This is your best set of secondary runes
Taste of Blood
great for sustain in lane as this is by far Twitch's weakest point of any time in the game.
Then you can either choose:
Treasure Hunter
- to add even more sustain
Ultimate Hunter
- to lower your ultimate cd
Ingenious Hunter
- only viable when building
Galeforce
Inspiration - secondary
Magical Footwear
+
Biscuit Delivery
Why should you consider inspiration?
Well it's true that i've said domination is the best secondary runes set, but hear me out, Twitch has hard times surviving during early stages and even tho domination offers good sustain, its value only increases as the game goes on, instead when taking inspirationyou goal is to get resources a bit earlier into the game, making laning phase less painful.
ECO-STRATEGY
Magical Footwear
- Once you receive the boots, Magical Footwear saves you 300G: the cost for
Boots
. The additional +10 movement speed is worth an extra 120G.
Biscuit Delivery
makes your laning phase a little easier, providing both mana and health sustain.
HOB
Domination - primary(AP/AD)
Hail of Blades
Allows you to stack your passive fast in combination with
Venom Cask
. Within 3 hits and the
Venom Cask
, your passive should be max stacked allowing you to use your E fast. Getting enemies on max passive stacks is essential to do the highest burst damage possible + DPS.
- When i should take
Hail of Blades
overprecisionrunes? -
When building AP
Hail of Blades
is only option you shoudl consider, meanwhile the situation changes when building AD. This setup enhances your ability to reach max stack on single pick ASAP, with this in mind, i'd say
Hail of Blades
makes you more self-sufficient especially when lacking cc to follow up on, compared to
Press the Attack
or
Lethal Tempo
.
Precision - secondary
Presence of Mind
+
Legend: Alacrity
Always stick to this 2, most versatile options, increasing both mana regen and attack speed
Summoner Spells
Breakdown
Flash
Summoner Spell
mandatory, it helps you dodging key abilities and generates new opportunities to kill people
Heal
Summoner Spell
you 're gonna run heal most of the time since it improves 2vs2 trades a lot and also grants to you and your ally a mov speed boost.
Exhaust
Summoner Spell
you want to use exhaust if there are a lot of assassins in the enemy team or vs particular matchups
Barrier
Summoner Spell
good vs burst champions, i mostly use this whenever i have a
Yuumi
support (if she takes heal).
Cleanse
Summoner Spell
it helps a lot vs ccs,
Ignite
and
Exhaust
(but remember airborne, nearsight, and suppression effects won't be cleansed)

Max out
Contaminate
first since it’s your main source of damage, then max
Ambush
2nd to increase your stealth duration and boosting your movement speed and leave
Venom Cask
for last.
NOTE: you might also change the first 3 levels order,
Contaminate
lv 1 gives more damage if you can reach a good amount of stack, but if you're invading or you can't afford long trades this early, my suggestion is to start
Ambush

When building AP, you usually want to start
Venom Cask
at lv 1, because it freely applies
Deadly Venom
stacks onto enemies, and this translate to more damage dealt for each tick of poison.
Then you max out
Contaminate
first since it’s your main source of damage. After maxing out
Contaminate
, you’ll want to spend your points on
Ambush
if you think increasing your stealth duration and boosting your movement speed is better, or
Venom Cask
to increase slow.
IMPORTANT - Do not max R until lv 17,
Spray and Pray
provides only extra AD when levelled up so it's pointless, when you don't actually build any AD.
Item Builds
There's no "best" build for twitch as his items are very situational depending on your teams and the enemies team comp, but im going to give you some examples anyway
AD
Kraken
Galeforce
BOTRK
CORE
Kraken
Galeforce
BOTRK
Kraken Slayer
Item
Build
Kraken Slayer
to maximize your dps, it synergizes a lot with your kit and also provide a good amount of true damage vs tankier champions.
Runaan's Hurricane
Item
Runaan's Hurricane
is good on Twitch because of its interaction with his ult and his passive. Runaan's bolt can hit targets that are not directly targeted by your ults, that means if your ult hit 2 people, the second person can be hit by both ult and
Runaan's Hurricane
.
Moreover it helps clear waves extremely quick, which also makes his split push capability a lot better. During team fights it helps as it gets your passive poison out there quickly and helps you deal amore damage.
P.s
Twitch
2nd item spike is pretty weak compared to other Runaan users like Jinx and Aphelios who benefits more from rushing it than Twitch.
Infinity Edge
Item
Huge damage amplifier, when
Twitch
gets his 3rd item he truly becomes a monster in teamfights.
Galeforce
Item
Galeforce
is a solid option when you want to maximize single target burst and using the dash could help, saving your life or scoring a kill.
The Collector
Item
another item made for increasing your burst damage on single target especially when they are squishy, also note that it's passive works with poison too
Infinity Edge
Item
Blade of The Ruined King
Item
Yes this is an option, with Twitch you can rush
Blade of The Ruined King
and i find this start valuable when i have to deal with tanky supp or hard matchups where i get extra value from an early 1st back with
Vampiric Scepter
and im able to kite front to back easily.
Kraken Slayer
Item
there are 2 possibilities you either build kraken 2nd or you skip it till you build
Infinity Edge
.
Runaan's Hurricane
Item
- When to go Galeforce / Kraken slayer?
Not an easy answer, it's very dependent on both playstyle, and team comps, but this is my general rule of thumb,
Galeforce
is without a doubt the better choice if you like to play
Twitch
more like an assassin or if they have important skillshots that you need to dodge or a champ that has a dash or a leap or whatever gap close, which most likely one shot you, but if anything else just go
Kraken Slayer
.
SITUATIONALS
Usually build this items after you completed
Infinity Edge
, unless you're stucked in particular situation where buying this tools earlier could be game changing.

Lord Dominik's Regards

Mortal Reminder

Maw of Malmortius
---> good stats + omnivamp and magic damage shield - S tier
Wit's End
---> good stats + more on hit damage + mov.speed - S tier
prefer
Wit's End
over
Maw of Malmortius
if you are able to kite enemies, anything else buy
Maw of Malmortius
, the shield value is just upfront better.
Mercurial Scimitar
---> decent stats + good active - B tier (very situational)
Guardian Angel
---> A tier
Bloodthirster
--> only if you really struggle surving to poke / burst damage, you already receive plenty of sustain from other sources - B tier (very situational)
attack speed is an important stat for Twitch in the early stages of the game and
Nashor's Tooth
provides both attack speed and AP in an efficient manner on top of giving a powerful on-hit passive that grants bonus damage
Crown of the Shattered Queen
Item
it offers both, AP and safeness thanks to a shield that reduces champion incoming damage by 75% and not only this but right after the shield goes down it also grants extra AP, couldn't ask for better 2nd item
Rabadon's Deathcap
Item
Rabadon's Deathcap
amplifies your damage by tremendous amount, from the true damage on your passive to your bonus magic damage on

- AD Twitch looks for opportunities to deal a steady stream of damage against grouped-up teams
- AD Twitch needs at least 3 items to be really effective, but has tremendous DPS late game and does more AOE dmg (
Runaan's Hurricane
)
- AP Twitch aims to do quick bursts in repeated short succession to get constant resets of
Ambush
.
- AP Twitch has slightly earlier spikes thanks to AP items (cost/effeciency) but worse dps late game
- AP Twitch has better defensive tools against assassins
they are not polar opposite gameplay wise, make your decision based off personal preference and team compositions
Early game is by far Twitch's worst phase of the game.
Surviving and maintaining high cs is ADC primary focus, so try to not fall behind and if possible avoid getting pushed in, farming under tower is pretty hard with low AD/atk.speed.
If you get caught out as Twitch there isn't much you can do as he is squishy so you need to make sure to not misposition and get CCd, also make sure you have river warded for anyone trying to gank you as most junglers in the meta right now can just run and murder you.
TRADING
You'll usually want to follow up support engages, so, for example, lets say Nautilus hits a hook, you'll want to throw (W)
Venom Cask
on the enemy and start your (Q)
Ambush
so you can get the burst of attack speed and finish off with (E)
Contaminate
once they are out of your AA range as this means that you won't lose the time you could have autod while casting your E (your E takes time to cast and hit so you need to make sure you don't either die or let them escape from your range before casting it).
Trading with
Twitch
is really simple but there are just few rules you have to follow:
1. When leaving stealth, first hit your target and then follow with W. Do not use W as the first spell after you leave your Q. This will let you reset the autoattack.
2.
Contaminate
has 35% bonus AD scaling, when
Spray and Pray
is active (6 seconds) your bonus AD is increased 40 / 55/ 70 (based on
Spray and Pray
lv) so is worth noticing that you can increase damage if you cast
Contaminate
while in ult.
ROAMING
if your wave is pushed in and you can't afford to walk up and farm, look for opportunities elsewhere, ping your support to help and roam, mid is typically your go-to option when seeking for kills, but remember to always ask yourself:
Do I have enough damage?
How fed is the laner i'm about to gank?
Can enemy jungler/support interfere?
If the answer to this question favors you then go for it.
What you want to achieve in this phase is to speed up your scaling towards late game, so my advice is to keep your focus on csing sidelanes and try to catch the enemy off guard with
Ambush
and
Spray and Pray
whenever is available.
TEAMFIGHT
Teamfighting as Twitch is pretty straight forward. You want to wait for someone on your team to initiate a fight. When the enemy responds, keep track of enemy's key ability before coming out of
Ambush
, because i can't stress this enough, at every stage of the game you remain squishy even more withouth Q, then if you see the chance unleash everything you have on their damage dealers. If you cant reach their damage dealers you are also great at killing tanks with your passive DPS.
Flanking is also an option. When a teamfight is breaking out and you can find a flank angle on enemy ADC/Midlaner and burst them dead, you disable enemy dps completely and win the fight by yourself.
It really depends on the situation and how things are looking. Depending on comps you can decide to fight front to back or go for picks.
Here is where the fun begins, at this point you will be melting people with your attack speed from your Q and the high damage from your R, just make sure you don't get too close otherwise assasins or bruisers will just burst you to one hp. Try to find good angles to ult from and also keep in mind to stick to your support when enemies have good counter picks on you, such as
Rengar
or
Kha'Zix
.
Matchups
HARD
MEDIUM
EASY
Vayne
Champion
Very hard to deal with, she has both more mobility and damage thanks to
Final Hour
she is also able to deal damage while you can't even retaliate(cause of stealth).
also able to disengage pretty easily with
Condemn
.
it really comes down to supports, farm safely while you can and make the most of out her mistakes.
Yasuo
Champion
Really painful to play against,
Sweeping Blade
makes it hard to follow and on top of that
Wind Wall
blocks both yours AAs and
Venom Cask
, avoid trading when he has this abilty up is the best suggestion i can give.
Try freezing wave in front of your tower, he is a melee champion so he has to expose himself to break it.
You can outscale him in teamfights so look forward to survive during laning phase
Kai'Sa
Champion
Very similar to
Vayne
, champion like this who have more single target damage and more mobility can make your laning a living hell.
She can both dodge your
Spray and Pray
bolts with
Supercharge
and
Killer Instinct
Tristana
Champion
One of Twitch's hardest matchups if not the hardest.
Rocket Jump
makes her both better when engaging and disengaging and can use it mutiple times in short periods of time.
Rapid Fire
+
Explosive Charge
with this 2 she can outdps you almost every time
Buster Shot
the cherry on top, increases burst damage and another way to stop aggression making almost impossible for you to use ult effectively.
Galeforce
is almost mandatory in this matchup.
Veigar
Champion
He is a new comer of patch 12.3
Event Horizon
is really unfair, with this single ability he can zone you from farm /lock inside to poke.
At lv 6 you have the chance to really swing the matchup but you need to a flawless execution, you have more range than him and if you are able to not get hit by his cage you're gucci.
His damage only increses over time, this means he can also match your and go beyond your scaling; with just a basic combo and
Electrocute
proc can easily come out on top in every single trade, play around
Event Horizon
and wait for someone to engage on him, be etremely careful, mid-late game because a single
Baleful Strike
+
Primordial Burst
deletes you, so approch him only if you can kill faster than he does.
Kog'Maw
Champion
Kog is
Twitch
's evil twin, very similar to you his kit provides him range and atk.speed but way earlier than yours, so you'll struggle quite a bit when dealing with
Bio-Arcane Barrage
.
Ashe
Champion
She is immobile which makes her an easy target whenever you use
Ambush
, but her slow and
Enchanted Crystal Arrow
could make your job as an assassin harder, 2vs2 coordination is vital in this matchup.
Zeri
Champion
12.4 and 12.5 nerfs made Zeri fall down from her OP state, making this martchup a little easier for you.
Whenever you reach 6
Deadly Venom
stacks you'll win the exchange, but her
Spark Surge
and
Lightning Crash
makes this task and harder. Punish her whenever she get cc'd.
Miss Fortune
Champion
Her pokes and damage single target are really annoying, avoid standing near low health minions. She becomes vulnerable after you get some items, take the most out of it, by surprising her when she is left alone.
Lucian
Champion
He is considered a lane bully in fact his trading patterns are better than yours, so avoid playing to cocky and look for scaling.
Play around his
Relentless Pursuit
because this ability gives him the edge over you in laning phase.
Xayah
Champion
She is immobile but better at creating opportunities for her support to initiate fights thanks to her feathers so watch out when going for cs.
She is also a extremely annoying beacuse of her ultimate that she can use both offensively and defensively, track this cd as she can outplays you if dont play accordingly.
Senna
Champion
Senna can't simply match your damage at any stage, she can just run away and avoid getting damaged by your AA with
Curse of the Black Mist
.
Be also aware that whenever in danger, she will use
Last Embrace
to stop you from going aggressive, so prepare yourself to either dodge with
Flash
or
Galeforce
to score the kill
Varus
Champion
He has slight advantatge when poking but he can't absolutely stand your all-ins
Aphelios
Champion
More range with calibrum and annoying with gravitum' root, but when you press
Ambush
he needs to stay a screen away from you.
Draven
Champion
Wasn't Draven a lane bully?
Yes he is, but if i have to consider every lane bully an hard matchup there woudn't be easy section, jokes aside, it's true Twitch can't directly face lane bully 1vs1 but this is almost true for every late game champion and i putted Draven here because your range advantage after lv 6 makes this matchup really easy, to deal with, so the general rule here is farm till you get 6, and then make him regret his pick.
Caitlyn
Champion
Just dont let her push you under tower and your fine, she doesn't have enough damage to kill you if she gets caught off-guard.
Jinx
Champion
she has simply more range whenever she use fish bones, other than that you can easily abuse her
Sivir
Champion
Her defensive tool(
Spell Shield
) is almost useless againt you, just be carefull not taking too much damage from his
Boomerang Blade
and you ll be always ahead of her
Kalista
Champion
Riot seems to struggle to balancing her out, but she has been bad for quite a while.
Samira
Champion
Watch out from her support beacuse if she gets onto you she might become problematic, maintain distance and you' ll be fine
Ezreal
Champion
Position correctly and avoid poke, his option are very limited against you, if you find oppurtunities to extend trades he has no chance of winning.
