  • Starting Items

Doran's Blade
+
Health Potion
are strong starting items for Tristana as the bonus health greatly helps during early all-ins, while the omni-vamp helps at all stages of the game (especially since the removal of the lifesteal provided by the ravenous hunter keystone rune). Slightly delays your early mythic power-spike and provides less early sustain than
Long Sword
+
Refillable Potion
(or 3
Health Potion
s)

  • Mythic Choice

Kraken Slayer
is the standard mythic for Tristana, providing the most raw dps to secure takedowns quickly and therefore allow for faster
Rocket Jump
resets to get out of trouble. Additionally, the raw dps helps to further maximize the short windows of burst damage provided by
Hail of Blades
,
Rapid Fire
, and
Explosive Charge
.

Galeforce
is an alternative option for a mythic for Tristana, trading off some raw dps for additional safety and an execute with the Cloudburst active dash. Given recent nerfs to the item,
Galeforce
is more situational but can still be very effective into squishy team comps and can provide valuable safety.

  • Core Items

Phantom Dancer
is the standard second item for Tristana, providing substantial attack speed and attack damage, as well as additional movement speed and ghosting in the passive that adds survivability and helps with kiting.

Stormrazor
and
The Collector
are alternative options that are particularly strong into squishier enemy comps.
Stormrazor
's brief slow helps keep squishy targets in range long enough for Tristana to get off her fully charged
Explosive Charge
, often leading to quick kills /
Rocket Jump
ing out, where otherwise the target could have walked out of range. Where the energized attack slow isn't as useful,
The Collector
's raw stats and lethality can lead to an early power spike that can help snowball a game.

Infinity Edge
should be built third in nearly all games given the massive power spike that it provides, between its raw stats and critical-enhancing passive. The passive requires a minimum of 60% critical chance, so it shouldn't be built prior to third. The only real exception is if
Lord Dominik's Regards
is absolutely necessary to deal with multiple enemy tanks that are taking over the game, in which case
Infinity Edge
could be delayed until the fourth item.

  • Situational Items

Bloodthirster
adds late game survivability with it's overheal shield, which can provide a lot of value against assassin's by allowing Tristana to survive long enough for her to
Buster Shot
them away or for a teammate to peel. Additionally, the life steal provided by the item provides a lot of value into poke comps allowing Tristana to easy heal back to full on a minion wave or jungle camp. Especially since the removal of Ravenous Hunter, the life steal provides a lot of value in keeping her health topped up, so even an early purchase of
Vampiric Scepter
can be valuable.

Lord Dominik's Regards
is a near-essential item into beefy team comps, particularly against those where Tristana is not afforded any back line access and is forced to fight front to back. Between the passive effect of increasing damage against champions with greater max health than you and the substantial armor penetration,
Lord Dominik's Regards
goes along way to allowing Tristana to punch through late game tanks.

Guardian Angel
and it's component item
Stopwatch
, provide substantial survivability to Tristana and allows her to play to the limits of her ability. By late game, when this item is often picked up, Tristana living or dying can equate to your team winning or losing the game and as a result the value of the passive revive provided by this item cannot be overstated.

Mortal Reminder
is a bit situational on Tristana given her propensity to burst down enemies and therefore places higher value on pure damage stats to better accomplish this goal, while also not really affording enemies the opportunity to heal up mid-fight. That said, into certain heal-heavy enemy team compositions (e.g.
Soraka
, multiple enemies with
Goredrinker
), this item can provide a lot of value. Often an early pick up of the
Executioner's Calling
can be sufficient for most of the game before finishing up
Mortal Reminder
as your last item.

Maw of Malmortius
is another sitational item for Tristana, but can provide significant value into heavy ap enemy team comps that are otherwise able to burst down Tristana. The 50 magic resist and passive lifeline effect can drastically improve Tristana's survivability and then allows her to heal back up after proc'ing the passive effect.

Draw a Bead
is Tristana's passive ability and increases her attack range by 8 with each level (~20% increase over her base attack range at level 18). This ability goes a long way to improving Tristana's late game scaling, better allowing her to fight from safety and kite out dangerous enemies.

Rapid Fire
is typically taken at level 3 and then maxed second. It is a straight forward ability that provides a significant attack speed boost (up to 110%) for 7 seconds, but then goes onto a fairly long cooldown. This ability synergizes very well with
Hail of Blades
and
Explosive Charge
in maximizing Tristana's damage output in her relatively short attack window. That said, once this ability and
Explosive Charge
are on cooldown, it is often unwise to pick further fights as her damage-output is significantly reduced.

Rocket Jump
is typically taken at level 2 and then maxed last. Note that there is a short buffer when the ability is used, before the jump occurs. Tristana can be hit by cc during this time and the jump will still occur with the cc continuing it's effect once she has landed. Additionally, note that landing on an enemy with the ability provides a fairly significant slow (60%), which can be very useful in keeping the enemy in place long enough to get the full
Explosive Charge
combo out. Once a fully stacked
Explosive Charge
is denotated or Tristana picks up a takedown,
Rocket Jump
's cooldown is refreshed and Tristana can jump out to safety (or onto a new target if still going in).

Explosive Charge
is maxed first as it provides the most substantial increase to Tristana's burst potential and scales very well with rank.
Explosive Charge
has a cast time and wind down time but each can be avoided by using the ability during her
Rocket Jump
or if used while standing, the wind down time can be avoided by moving or inputing an attack as soon as the ability is used. Finally, note that the
Explosive Charge
can be used on turrets and epic monsters, allows Tristana to deal significant damage to a wide variety of objectives.

Buster Shot
is leveled whenever available (levels 6, 11, 16) and is very strong in a variety of situations. The ability provides Tristana with self peel, allowing her to push off would-be assassins and helps kite juggernaut's and fighter's looking to get too close. Additionally, the ability counts as a stack of
Explosive Charge
and if used as the final stack, will push back the enemy and then explode the charge. In this manner, an
Explosive Charge
placed on an enemy front-liner can be knocked back into the enemy team, dealing signficant damage to the full enemy team, including squishier back line champions playing behind the front-liner.

Please do not post builds when you are a low elo player yourself. This will only continue to make players worse
