Introduction

With the recent jungle patch (It's been a while since I've played ok) and the introduction of hatchlings, it has been considerably easier to the jungle than ever before. Which through my testing, managed

Lux
to solo clear! And at a considerable pace too. I have played her in a multitude of games now in around Gold Ranked Flex lobbies and have been getting great results, probably because I'm platinum. Generally you would have a much greater time if your lanes were mostly even, as fed lanes do not pair well with a
Lux
in the jungle. But anyways, here is my guide to
Lux
and to play her in jungle.

Runes

Generally,

Dark Harvest
would work best in this situation as Lux, being in the jungle, roams a lot, and can build up her stacks quite easily if played well, resulting in better overall value than
First Strike
as she deals a lot of damage late-game, scaling.

Unless you want to go straight for damage though and agro early, as not many people expect a Lux jungle to actually clear, which she can solo, you can go

First Strike
.

  • Dark Harvest
  • First Strike

Items Loadout

First items: Lux would want

Gustwalker Hatchling
because as a sorcerer, she doesn't have much movement speed, once hatched, this helps her with ganks and running away.

Buy

Oracle Lens
after warding, and
Dark Seal
and/or
Tear of the Goddess
on your first back for scaling, you are a mid-game character here don't rush it.

Generally, you wouldn't want to get in too many solo fights especially early without

Final Spark
, but gank lanes with your
Light Binding
and get free kills basically, once you have your
Final Spark
, you can do long-distance ganks with it, just coordinate it with your laners so they can stun/engage with the enemy so you'll have an easier time.

Early to End-game: If all goes well and you have made it past the start of the game, focus on

Luden's Tempest
, this alone gives Lux a great buff to her damage and capabilties.

If all has gone extremely well, you can upgrade to

Mejai's Soulstealer
if you have a good amount of
Dark Seal
stacks. If you are fed but you died a few times, or you are just really fed, rush
Rabadon's Deathcap
, with your extra gold, you can have a quick power spike that basically boosts your damage tenfold.

But after any of these situations,

Shadowflame
is guaranteed the next item for its overall damage boost.
Rabadon's Deathcap
after if you don't have it, and
Archangel's Staff
afterward for ability haste and mana.

When building

Archangel's Staff
, you probably won't have space to hold the component items for it, so buy a
Elixir of Sorcery
because more or less, by your next team fight you would have ended the game, or have had enough money to buy it full.

Situational: If you fail to stack your

Dark Seal
, instead of
Mejai's Soulstealer
, you can give up and go for
Zhonya's Hourglass
before
Rabadon's Deathcap
if their assassins do way too much damage, or
Horizon Focus
after
Rabadon's Deathcap
if you just want more damage and
Final Spark
application,
Shadowflame
still takes priority over these items as you really need that damage.

Get your support and tank to build grievous wounds, we wouldn't want you missing on some precious damage now would we :)

  • Main Build Path

Skill Path

Lux would want to get

Light Binding
to start, and start red buff. She requires a bit of kiting while clear, which mainly is that to stun red or blue, and generally most monsters to keep AAing from a distance with your increased attack speed.
Lucent Singularity
is to be maxed first before
Light Binding
as its damage has much more value, helping her keep up with clear later in the game.

Jungle Path

Stealth Ward
your blue side, recall, and buy
Oracle Lens
. Go to your red side.

(Generally just spam your

Lucent Singularity
) Red Buff:
Light Binding
them, walk away and AA,
Smite
it unless you got a healthy leash from bot lane save it for Krugs. Krugs:
Light Binding
and focus on big krug unless you have
Smite
proc your
Illumination
on the smaller krug, if you do it right,
Lucent Singularity
all the children. Raptors: Your
Lucent Singularity
will deal enough damage to the little Jimmies, focus Jimmy's mom with
Light Binding
. Generally you can use the
Health Potion
here. Wolfs: Just spam abilities and focus on the big wolf. Blue Buff: Do the same as Red Buff but when almost dead, try to angle your
Light Binding
to hit Gromp to transition. Gromp: Just the same procedure as Red/Blue buff. Scuttle: The general rule is to observe which lane leashes, and that will determine whether you try to go for scuttle or not, if you are both going to the same scuttle, more likely than not you have a chance of being killed depending on the jungler as you have a slower clear time than most, but if your lucky you can rush scuttle with your leftover
Smite
or just use it in your clear for whenever you find yourself struggling. (Generally just spam your
Prismatic Barrier
too, same goes when ganking)

How to Gank in a Nutshell

Once you find a good gank, just walk up. Try to save your

Light Binding
for the last possible moment, mainly just walk up and slow the gankee with your
Lucent Singularity
and detonate just before they get out, if they flash you then use your
Light Binding
and
Final Spark
if you have it. Try to combo your skills and CC with your laner to make the most out of your cooldowns. Generally you and your laner would have been able to finish it off by now, but it's over, just keep AAing, be wary of counter-ganks though.

General Matchups

For the jungle side of things, you most likely have to be wary of mostly every jungle there is, but I will list ones down and generally how to fight against them. Just play it smart with most of them. This applies to most champions but generally for one on ones, unless you are fed, what you should mainly focus on is propper social-distancing.

If they can teleport such as

Shaco
, try not to waste your
Light Binding
at first, as that will get you killed, but run and place a
Lucent Singularity
on yourself.

The same goes for champions with long dashes such as

Kha'Zix
or
Diana
as elevation/dashing can be janky and throw you off guard most of the time.

And for short dash champions such as

Nidalee
or
Graves
, you could possibly win an exchange against them if you dodge skillshots, but its generally hard to hit your
Light Binding
on them which is your main advantage.

And pure melee champions/champions with charged abilities such as

Rek'Sai
,
Warwick
or
Vi
will give you an easy time early, as you can easily win exchanges as they don't have the utility or abilities to fully counter you just yet, though they may be a problem for you later on.

Conclusion

To be quite frank, I wouldn't fully recommend this to be played in solo queue (unless you have tried it out for yourself and is confident), but instead with your friends to mainly have fun and enjoy the off-meta pick I prepared for ya! The main thing is to have fun, don't rage about how tricky this pick actually is in game, and let your light shine! :3
