Hey! I'm FFrostbite and this guide is about my
Anivia .
Last season I rushed Master while carrying most of my games with her.
In this guide I'm going to explain everything you need to know about her :)I included videos of the most common combos and wall tricks on the bottom of the guide! I hope they help

Quick Summary
Pros / Cons
Runes
BURST RUNE PAGE (recommending this one)
this page is really good if you want to oneshot people and if you dont need any additional mobility
in combination with will add alot (!) of bonus damage to your combos - this way you can burst people easily. Just make sure to land your Q -
Flash Frost , so gets procced take for more AP and for more movement speed. This is good for potential roams and makes it easier to catch people with your W -
Crystallize as secondary page go Precision with for Mana Regeneration and for additional Tenacity
MOBILITY RUNE PAGE
this page is really good if the enemy team has alot of stuns and skillshots, which you want to dodge
is a really good way for you to have additional mobility
secondary page stays the same
VS MEELEE RUNE PAGE
this page is really good against champions where u can abuse first strike. In combination with the other runes you have alot more gold available early game
is a really good way for you to generate bonus gold in the early game - its good against meelees since you can hit them first easily (for example Akali, Qiyana)
secondary page stays the same
Summoner Spells
standard secondary summoner - makes you get back to lane fast in early game when your mana pool is low. Also makes you able to sidelane and teleport into fights in midgame / lategame
often used in matchups where you have kill pressure - can be used to snowball in lane and get fed early (cant sidelane easily later on though because you dont have teleport)
good if you need bonus mobility when the enemy team has alot of CC or skillshots / dashes (is used the least often out of all the summoner spell choices)
is good against burst assasins (like Zed, Qiyana, Akali, Rengar..) - just exhaust them when they try to burst you and you will survive their combo
Skill Path
this is the standard skill path for Anivia
in some matchups you can skill your E -
Frostbite a second time on level 3 for more damage in lane you can also put a second point in your W -
Crystallize at level 8 or 10 for it to be bigger early in the game

Anivia
Item Builds
EARLY GAME ITEMS
Items are in order of importance
First back should 100% be a buy + If you have enough gold to buy + you can postpone
CORE ITEMS
before finishing you should have ready, since
Anivia is one of the slowest champions in the game (still prio over tho)
After finishing you can go for as 2nd item depending on the game state and enemy champions you can also finish as 2nd item in certain matchups you can also skip to build more damage (for example if they dont have alot of dive champs)
Why Everfrost as Mythic?
its the best option. Provides everything you need and a bonus root on top!
-
Crown of the Shattered Queen
can be good vs assasins, but often CC and Health is enough
- is good for burst, but makes Anivia too squishy
- is good vs tanks, but currently champs are too squishy
The "spicy" build
The above build and items are the standard ones for
Anivia . They are centered around maximizing your damage. This build is focused on something else tho. You will still have high damage, but you have way more movement speed. This is really good, since it makes it easier to catch people with your W -
Crystallize .
It is a good build option when the enemys dont have alot of dashes (champs like
Twisted Fate ,
Jinx ). You can simply run them down and catch them - which is a guarenteed kill or .
The core items are the same. Buy early after . Make sure to get some stacks early game. After having your core items you can upgrade it to . At 10 stacks you gain 10% movement speed. Afterwards you can build . This makes you tanky, grants you 5% movement speed and an extra 40 movement speed when fully stacked. If it is stacked you shouldn't autoattack tho, to not lose the 40 movement speed. When you have these items and you have about 500 movement speed, which is INSANE.
Matchups and Synergies
HARD - Reasons:
- you cant punish his weak early game since you are also weak
- his Q interrupts your R
- he has alot of mobility with his R
Playstyle + Build:
In early game you want to autoattack him as much as possible. Dont let him farm freely. Dont push the wave - try to keep the wave in the middle of the lane to get free poke on him. This should be easy on levels 1-5. After he hits 6 the lane will be alot more difficult. You cant walk up anymore, since he will jump on you and combo you. Thats why you dont want to ever use your Q -
Flash Frost in lane. Only use it when he jumps on you for an easy hit and free damage. After level 6 try to just push the wave as fast as possible. This way you can look for roams, which is good in this matchup.Build is pretty normal. You might want to rush
to roam faster and have some magic resistance against him. Go the rune page.
HARD - Reasons:
- has alot of mobility
- good early game
- can dodge every spell
- can oneshot you at 6
Playstyle + Build:
In early game you want to autoattack her as much as possible. Dont let her farm freely. Dont push the wave - try to keep the wave in the middle of the lane to get free poke on her. This should be easy on levels 1-5. After she hits 6 the lane will be alot more difficult. Now she can oneshot you with her combo. Try to just push the wave as fast as possible. This way you stop her from roaming, which she wants to do. If she still leaves lane: dont follow. She might trap you in the river. Just try to push midlane and let your team know where she is going.
Build is normal. You want to rush
for some early armor. This way she cant oneshot you easily. As runes you can go with the runepage - since you can proc it alot vs her.HARD - Reasons:
- outranges you and can poke you from far
- can E through your
Crystallize Playstyle + Build:
In early game he will most likely dominate you. He can push waves fast and poke you with his soldiers. You cant do anything against that. Try to stay out of his range and just farm safely - you will fall behind, but thats okay. After you hit level 6 you can farm more easily. Just use your ult to push the waves. Around level 8-9 the lane starts to shift a bit towards your favour. Thats when you have a huge mana pool and maybe already finished your mythic. You still have to keep your distance, but if he oversteps you can easily go at him,
Crystallize him and all in him. While doing that try to stay out of his soldiers autoattack range. Build is normal. Go the
or rune page.HARD - Reasons:
- outranges you and can poke you from far
Playstyle + Build:
This matchup is really annoying. In early levels its still okay, since he himself doesnt have alot of mana and his abilites deal low damage. That changes around level 6. He will have mana and his spells hit you hard. You want to use your R -
Glacial Storm to push the wave. He will clear the wave super fast aswell, thats why you sadly cant roam - making you stuck in mid. All you can try is push, move into the river, wait and camp for him - if he comes you can all in him easily. But if he plays it well you will never be able to reach him, but if he oversteps you can easily combo him. Just make sure to dodge his E stun -
Tectonic Disruption and it should be easy. If he all ins you with his R -
Life Form Disintegration Ray always remember, that you can interrupt it with your W -
Crystallize by placing it on top of him and displacing him.Build is normal. All you want to do is rush
early and also finish super early - prio it over aswell. This helps you dodge his skillshots. Go or rune page.HARD - Reasons:

- has a good early game and alot of lane sustain
- dashes alot with her Q - hard to predict her movement
- can easily all in you
Playstyle + Build:
You cant do much in this lane. If your minions are full health you can attack her, but if they are low she will dash to them and use it as gap close to reach you. If she does it you want to
Flash Frost her for an easy hit. Dont use
Flash Frost in any other way tho, since she might just dodge it and all in you. She will rush which makes trading her worthless. She will just heal back when the wave is there. After level 6 try to fast push with your R -
Glacial Storm and look for roams.Build is normal. You might want to rush
if she hurts alot. Go or rune page.HARD - Reasons:
-
Wind Wall negates your Q and E
- dashes alot - hard to hit him
- can easily all in youPlaystyle + Build:
You cant do much in this lane. His passive shield is really annoying - try to autoattack him as much as possible to always trigger it asap. He will dash alot, which makes it hard to hit
Flash Frost . Thats why you shouldnt use it. Only use it when he dashes on you for a free stun. If he is fast enough he will
Wind Wall it tho. Just try to stay passive until you hit level 6. Then you can just push the wave and look for roams.Build is normal. You want to rush
. Go or rune page.EVEN - Reasons:
- she is stronger earlygame
- you win starting midgame
- low range
Playstyle + Build:
In early levels she will be super annoying. You cant do anything against her trade and she will perma poke you with her ball. Try to stay out of her ball range and dodge as much as possible. Stay def early game until you hit level 6. After 6 you want to push waves with your R -
Glacial Storm . After pushing you can look for roams. At around level 9-10 you can stop perma pushing and try to fight her. This should be when you have your mythic and full boots.Build is normal. You might want to rush
if she is punishing you too much. As rune i recommend to outrun her in allins. This way you might be able to dodge her R -
Command: Shockwave .EVEN - Reasons:

if she is punishing you too much. As rune i recommend to outrun her in allins.EVEN - Reasons:
- he is slightly stronger earlygame
- even midgame
- low range
Playstyle + Build:
Early levels should be even. He will still try to poke you as much with his laser. Try to dodge that as much as possible. After hitting level 6 you can push the waves with your R -
Glacial Storm . After that try to roam. After having your mythic and full boots you can try to all in him. Just be careful of his R -
Chaos Storm . It cancels your R and if you dont have full boots you cant outrun it.Build is normal. You might want to rush

Chaos Storm .EVEN - Reasons:
- even earlygame

Playstyle + Build:
Early game is pretty boring. He will farm and try to stay defensive. You can always try to land your stun and combo him. After hitting level 6 you can push the wave with your R -
Glacial Storm and try to roam. Try to get your team ahead early this way. If you dont want to roam you can also try to fight him in lane. You should be able to easily fight him. One thing to keep in mind is that you can interrupt his W -
Valkyrie with your W -
Crystallize by placing it on him. Without it you can easily catch and fight him.Build is normal. I recommend
as rune.EVEN - Reasons:
- even earlygame
- even midgame
- you outrange him
Playstyle + Build:
You can poke him easily early. Try to hit him as much as possible. Only be careful when he has his 3rd Q -
Mortal Steel ready. He can knock you up with it, gapclose and fight you. If he uses his E -
Soul Unbound to gapclose and fight you: just stun him and combo him. Always keep your Q -
Flash Frost ready for that. After hitting level 6 you can either push waves and poke or try to fight him in lane. Its hard for him to do anything against you at this point if you play it right.Build is normal. As rune I recommend
or .EVEN - Reasons:
- even earlygame
- even midgame
- you outrange her
Playstyle + Build:
In early levels you can poke her easily. Theres nothing she can do against it. Try to not push and just zone her from the wave. She might try to hit you with her E -
Shuriken Flip and trade you - always try to dodge that or hide behind minions. At level 6 you can easily push the wave and roam. I dont recommend staying mid and fighting her, since it can get dangerous when she has ult ready.Build is normal. As rune I recommend
or .EVEN - Reasons:
- even earlygame
- even midgame
Playstyle + Build:
In early levels she wants to punish you as much as she can. Never ever use your stun in lane. Hold it for when she jumps forward for a free hit and combo her. Due to this she might stay defensive herself - this makes it a farming lane. After hitting level 6 you can just push the wave and look for roams. You most likely cant kill her in lane, since she will just jump out of your combos.
Build is normal. Maybe rush
if she is too annoying. As rune I recommend .EVEN - Reasons:
- even earlygame
- even midgame
Playstyle + Build:
Early levels might be a bit annoying for you, since he will try to poke you alot. Just try to dodge every of his spells. Besides that its a pretty boring farming lane. After hitting level 6 you can push waves and look for roams. You can also camp in the river and wait for him to follow you to cheese a free kill. After having your mythic and full boots you can easily try to look for allins if he overextends. Keep in mind that you can cancel his W -
Satchel Charge with your W -
Crystallize - if you do it he has no form of escape and is an easy kill.Build is normal. Rush full boots ASAP. As rune I recommend
.EASY - Reasons:
- even early game
- you win starting midgame
- low range
Playstyle + Build:
Early game is pretty even. He will focus on stacking AP with his Q -
Baleful Strike . If he does it: try to hit him with your stun for an easy combo. After level 6 you can always look for openings for an all in. He has no dash or something, which makes it hard for him to escape your ult.Build is normal. As rune I recommend
.EASY - Reasons:
- even early game
- you win starting midgame
Playstyle + Build:
Early game is pretty even. Try to hide behind your minions, so she cant hit her
Sleepy Trouble Bubble on you. You can try to stun her for combos, but afterwards you should stay defensive until it is back ready. After level 6 you can easily push waves and look for roams. You can also always try to all in her when she overextends a bit. One way to catch her is when she uses her R -
Portal Jump . Try to aim your Q -
Flash Frost on the location she started her cast. This means a free stun and afterwards she has no escape anymore, which is often a free kill.Build is normal. Rush
if she deals too much damage to you. As rune I recommend . Maybe take against her
Sleepy Trouble Bubble .EASY - Reasons:
- even early game
- you win starting midgame
- cant escape your combos
Playstyle + Build:
Early game is pretty even. She will try to poke you, so just make sure to dodge her spells. You want to chill until you hit level 6. At this point laning phase will be pretty easy. Wait for her to waste her passive fear. If she does so: walk up and use
Crystallize to wall her off and all in her. Without her fear she has no way of escaping your combos and is an easy target. Dont push the wave - just try to all in her always.Build is normal. Rush
if she deals too much damage to you. As rune I recommend .EASY - Reasons:
- even early game
- you win starting midgame
- cant escape your combos
Playstyle + Build:
Early game is even. He might be a bit annoying levels 1-5. Just try to stay even in these levels. After hitting level 6 you win the matchup. If he overextends just walk up and combo him. He has no dash or anything to escape your combo, which makes it an easy matchup. Dont push the wave - just try to all in him always.
Build is normal. Rush
if he deals too much damage to you. As rune I recommend .EASY - Reasons:
- even early game
- you win starting midgame
- cant escape your combos
Playstyle + Build:
Early game might be a bit annoying because he has no spell costs and can heal up easily with his Q -
Transfusion . Thats why I recommend to just chill until level 6. At this point he shouldnt be allowed to walk up anymore. If he walks into your range just full combo him. Only problem here is your mana pool, but once you have your mythic this lane should be super easy. I recommend not pushing the wave - instead try to all in him always.Build is normal. Rush
if he deals too much damage to you. As rune I recommend . Might want to go against him. Also rush after against him to lower his healing.EASY - Reasons:
- you win early game
- you win midgame
- you outrange him
Playstyle + Build:
In early levels you want to hit him as much as you can with autoattacks. Dont use your stun tho! You need it when he jumps onto you - if he does it you can free combo him. After level 6 you can look for all ins - the constant poke should be super annoying for him and theres little to nothing he can do.
Build is normal. Rush
if he deals too much damage to you. As rune I recommend or . Also rush after against him.EASY - Reasons:
- even early game
- you win starting midgame
- cant escape your combos
Playstyle + Build:
Early game might be a bit annoying. She will push you in and you will most likely play under your turret. Always look for trades when her stun is not ready tho. After hitting level 6 you can look for all ins when she is in your range. Dont go for it when she has her stun ready tho! If you catch her she it should be an easy kill tho, since she cant escape your combo once shes slowed.
Build is normal. Rush
if she deals too much damage to you. As rune I recommend . I highly recommend building against her. This item makes the matchup unplayable for her. Often she will have stun ready - meaning you cant walk up, because she can just stun and combo you. With her stun is basically useless, meaning you can just run her down - no counterplay for her.she can stun the enemy onto your wall! Just wall first and she can follow up. Super OP jgl pick with anivia!
she can stun the enemy onto your wall aswell! Wall first and she can follow up.
Essential Combos
try to autoattack as often as possible between the combos for maximum damage!
Level 1-5
1.
Flash Frost ->
Frostbite easiest combo - make sure to add an autoattack to proc
2.
Flash Frost ->
Frostbite (advanced)use your E shortly after using Q. This way both will land at the same time (
Frostbite will still do double the damage). People often dont expect the quick burst.
3.
Frostbite ->
Flash Frost ->
Frostbite start poking the enemys with autoattacks and your E. Follow up with Q and another E.
4.
Crystallize ->
Flash Frost ->
Frostbite place your W behind the enemy. He will either start walking left or right. Aim your Q towards where he is going and follow up with E.
5.
Flash Frost ->
Crystallize ->
Frostbite throw your Q at the enemy. Directly after try to place your W ontop of the enemy - ideally he will be knocked into your flying Q. Follow up with E.
Level 6+
1.
Flash Frost ->
Frostbite ->
Glacial Storm ->
Crystallize ->
Frostbite Start with the Q -> E combo. After that place your R on the enemy, W off their escape and follow up with another E.
2.
Glacial Storm ->
Crystallize ->
Frostbite ->
Flash Frost ->
Frostbite Start by casting your R on the enemy. Place W behind them, so they are stuck in your R. Follow with E into an easy Q hit since they are slowed - into another E.
Everfrost
1.
Flash Frost ->
Glacial Storm ->
Frostbite -> ->
Crystallize ->
Frostbite Start by casting Q. Immediately after cast R, so they are slowed and cant dodge Q as easy. Follow up with E, into Everfrost Root, into W behind them, into another E.
2.
Glacial Storm -> ->
Flash Frost ->
Frostbite ->
Crystallize ->
Frostbite Start with R into Everfrost Root. This way they cant dodge the Q afterwards. Follow up with E, into W behind them, into another E.
Wall Tricks
Minion Wall Block
by doing this you wont have to overextend to farm. The minions will be close to your turret, which makes it super hard to gank you.
Jump Interrupt
this works on things like Tristana W (
Rocket Jump ) , Rek'Sai W (
Furious Bite / Tunnel ) or Zac E (
Elastic Slingshot )
Blast Cone Interrupt
Engage Block
works against Nunu (
Biggest Snowball Ever! ) or Sion (
Unstoppable Onslaught ) - I highly recommend picking Anivia vs them - their engage will be useless!
Instakill - Stuck
this works on almost every wall on summoners rift. Always keep that in mind! Most people dont even try stuff like this. They wont be able to move and will almost always die or
.General Gameplay
Game Preparation
Before game starts, first thing that you should do is to identify threats. You should look at the enemy team composition and check out, who can be dangerous for you.
First look at the midlaner and his summoner spells. Always keep in mind whether he has
, which might mean that you can trade with him. If he has you need to watch out.
After that look at enemy jungler and figure out, what kind of combined powers they have and how it influences your playstyle - for example
Zac is pretty much constant threat for you, forcing you into defensive playstyle consisted of pure farming. Someone like
Shyvana might allow you to play agressive early game.
At last, look at enemy support and toplaner and think, whether or not they might look for roams
Early Game
You will most likely fall behind since its your weakest point of the game. Try to save your mana early game. Lasthit with autoattacks or
Frostbite only. Go for simple
Flash Frost into empowered
Frostbite trades whenever you can. Dont forget to add in a bonus autoattack for the proc.At level 6 you can begin clearing waves easily with
Glacial Storm . At one point your mana will be low - try to push in a wave and recall. Ideally you should be able to buy , , and maybe components of . Also dont forget to buy a .After having
and you can trade more aggresivly since you now have a big enough mana pool. Try to look for catches whenever you can. Also dont just mindlessly push the wave with
Glacial Storm always - only do that when you want to roam and create pressure on the map.
Mid Game
At this point you are a waveclear bot. Just use
Glacial Storm whenever they try to siege turrets. It should be impossible for them to get turrets that way. You normally dont want to sidelane or splitpush as
Anivia since you can solo stop the enemy team from getting turrets and because of your catch potential. Once you start grouping and teamfighting it's your time to shine! Try to
Crystallize Enemys off by placing the Wall behind them. Follow up with
Flash Frost or . This can lead to super easy kills for your team. In teamfights you can focus and full CC their frontline while using
Crystallize to wall off their backline. Or you can use
Crystallize to catch their backline and directly focus them. Because of your high base damage you should be able to nearly oneshot non-tanks with a full combo.
Late Game
Make sure to clear waves fast with your
Glacial Storm . It should be super easy, even if you have inhibitors down. It only gets hard once they get the baron buff. If your team is pushing turrets you can put your
Glacial Storm on one side of the enemy turret and place
Crystallize on the other side. This makes it nearly impossible for the enemy team to stop the siege.If your team goes for a baron or a drake you can use
Crystallize to wall off the enemy jungler - this way you can secure the objective easily.Your
Crystallize to catch people and your
Glacial Storm to waveclear are really the gamechangers at this point ingame. Try to utilize them as often as possible!
12.4 CHANGES
Midlane Champion Changes
Rumble 's base armor got increased. This means your autoattacks against him deal less damage. Normally you want to autoattack him alot, since he is meelee and can do nothing against it. This means the matchup got abit worse.
Neeko 's size got reduced. This makes it harder to hit her, which sucks. Her Q -
Blooming Burst damage got increased and her W
Shapesplitter cooldown lowered.
Neeko was already a lane bully before, but now its worse. Its a really hard lane pre 6. After 6 the matchup gets better tho. You might want to rush some magic resistance early now, before the changes this wasnt needed.
Veigar 's armor got reduced and his E -
Event Horizon cooldown got increased on early levels. These changes were mainly targeted at botlane
Veigar . The nerfs are nice to have in the matchup tho - your autoattacks deal more damage against him now, which already was a good way to poke him early. Also his cage is a huge utility tool and a longer cooldown on it is super good when playing against him.
