"First you start with some matter, then add star fire and voila!
It basically does the rest itself."

For those that want to get to playing, I run this in ~80% of my games:

About me:
Hi! I'm Sevntiyn, P4 60% WR Sol main, and have loved him since S6. I stream occasionally, so if you want to stop by, feel free to check me out!
Runes:
Standard Sol
Hedge Fund Sol
Comet || Sorcery/Inspiration:
This setup is best in most matchups.
You can almost always land your
Arcane Comet
due to the slow on Sol's
Singularity
.
Manaflow Band
and
Gathering Storm
also work well since you're playing for mid-to-late game.
Minion Dematerializer
makes stacking easy mode. Pop one of each for bonus 6% the rest of the game.
First Strike || Inspiration/Sorcery:
Sol can proc
First Strike
consistently with
Singularity
, which is a nice little bonus of income to get you to your core items faster.
I only run this into comfortable matchups I know I can safely harass the opponent consistently.
Attack Speed?
Yes.
I prefer
Attack Speed
over the extra
Adaptive Force
rune on Sol. Sol's autos are actually pretty strong, and the extra speed helps you save your abilities to use on champions (or get the sweet stacks before your
Singularity
runs out).
I find it's especially strong into melee matchups levels 1-3.
Summoner Spells:
Summoner Spells
What spells do I take?
Flash
: You're not perfect. Take it every game.
Teleport
: My favorite to run on Sol.
Teleport
lets Sol collect Stardust across the map without sacrificing the teamfight.
Exhaust
: I take exhaust against
Yasuo
,
Irelia
,
Qiyana
, and those pesky divers. Bait them in, combo
Exhaust
+
Singularity
, then sit back and collect your 300g's.
------------------------------------------------
Barrier
: It's pretty weak. I can only see this being useful against artillery mages' combos like
Lux
,
Ziggs
, or
Xerath
, where they won't be in exhaust radius.
Honestly, you're probably better off just taking teleport, anyways.
Ignite
: Literally only run this if your team desperately needs the healcut.

Items:
RoA Rush
Rylai's Rush
Doran's/Tear, which to start?
Doran's Ring
is always a good starting option, then grab tear on first back + as much ap as you can.
However, if into a volatile matchup (or one you struggle with),
Tear of the Goddess
is a good replacement to just farm out the lane and try not to die. Farm, stack, scale, and win.
(Plus you'll have slightly better econ without having to do the the
Doran's Ring
buy/sell.)
How to pick what core items you should run:
Breakdown
Rod of Ages
Item
Rod of Ages
is very strong (if not "ideal") on Sol. If the enemy team is planning to scale into late game or poke you down in teamfights, then go
Rod of Ages
without a doubt.
Rod of Ages
is also perfect for when you've got to deal with assassins and you need the tankiness. It also allows you to sell your
Tear of the Goddess
once you're stacked up instead of completing
Seraph's Embrace
if you don't need the mana and shield.
So why not RoA every game?
It doesn't cover Sol's early-game vulnerabilities quite as well as rushing
Rylai's Crystal Scepter
does. Additionally, I find Sol's damage with
Rod of Ages
to fall off if the enemy is drafting a very tanky comp.
--> Overall damage is lower during mid-game, but you'll scale harder into late with
Rod of Ages
versus
Rylai's Crystal Scepter
with
Liandry's Anguish
/
Luden's Tempest
.
Rylai's Crystal Scepter
Item
Why choose this over RoA?
Rylai's Crystal Scepter
gives you some much-needed early survivability by helping keep enemies at arm's-length (or sticking to them).
Follow it with
Liandry's Anguish
almost every time.
Liandry's Anguish
Item
It's just good.
Run
Liandry's Anguish
9 times out of 10 with
Rylai's Crystal Scepter
.
Luden's Tempest
Item
Luden's on Sol?!
Absolutely.
It's situational, but
Luden's Tempest
is the best mythic if and only if the enemy team has no real tanks. The % magic pen, bonus burst damage, and movespeed boost work together to turn Sol into a Hit-and-Run menace.
