Intro

I don't know how many times I'm going to have to say this, but I'm absolute trash at league. I don't play ranked, I've only played for a little over a year, and I'm not that good at anything but jungling, of which I am subpar at. But, I really like making guides, and I like helping people learn more about champs they wanna play, so they can be better than I am at the game. So I really hope that this intro doesn't deter you from reading on.

The Darkin Scythe: An Explantion of Kayn's Abilites



The Darkin Scythe
is one of the main mechanics of Kayn's kit, and it's part of what makes him such a good champ to play. Kayn can transform into two things: the Darkin, or the Shadow Assassin. The Darkin will heal for a percent of damage dealt, and the Shadow Assassin will deal bonus damage for the first few moments of combat with another champ.

There is only way one you can transform, and it's by ganking and killing enemy champs, so the best way to speed up this process is by getting a lot of kills and assists early in game. To become the Darkin (Red Kayn), you have to damage melee champs (champs that don't use guns or arrows, put simply) and to become the Shadow Assassin (Blue Kayn), you need to damage ranged champs (champs that can do damage from far distances). This means that you have to adjust your jungle route so you can kill the enemies necessary for your desired transformation.

Runes (Loadout)



Conqueror
is a pretty great rune for Kayn in general, but Kayn's runes vary with his transformation, so
Dark Harvest
is a pretty good keystone for Blue Kayn, and
Conqueror
works best for Red Kayn.

High Elo Kayn Jungle Path

Standard Kayn Jungle Path

Fast Gank Kayn Jungle Path

With the fast gank, you get all the coins and XP from a regular jungle clear but with ganking incorporated in. After you clear Krugs, gank bot. If this goes succesfully, go back to base and buy boots, and clear the Blue Sentinel side and the Scuttler before ganking top.

Skill Path

Kayn's skill path is Q>W>E, and the way you start it depends on what elo you are, how experienced you are, and your preferences since high elo players prefer to level their E at level 2 rather than their W.

In general, your items for Kayn would probably be

, but the best items, just like your runes, will vary for whichever Kayn transformation you choose. For Red Kayn, your core item will be the

There are very few champs that Kayn can face at game start, and he is very weak without a transformation, so all those who counter Kayn, are weak against him, or are consistently stronger than he is throughout the game are here.

Tips and Tricks

Preplan your jungle route once you find out who the enemy champs are.

Gank frequently to gain stacks towards your transformation.

Use

Shadow Step
when ganking and jungling for extra move speed.



Umbral Trespass
is Kayn's most valuable spell: it can do insane amounts of damage, if inside the enemy jungler you can steal Baron, Herald, or Dragon with
Smite
, and you can use it for quick escapes.



Reaping Slash
can be used to jump over walls, and when paired with
Shadow Step
, Kayn becomes a high mobility champ.

Kayn may seem hard, but once you get the hang of it, he's not. And remember GLHF! I got all my info from u.gg and jungler.gg. The two videos below are so you can really understand Kayn if you felt this guide wasn't clear enough, but I really tried to make so everyone can understand.
