Im writing this guide to explain the ins and outs of my favorite mage, and to help you lose I mean... gain!!! LP.

Runes

I want to start off with the ONLY rune page I use, i refuse to change anything besides

Armor
/
Magic Resist
. I do this because I believe
Electrocute
is ultimately the best rune for
Veigar
.

First reason to go

Electrocute
is because it has a .25 ap ratio

Second reason: Your EWQ or

Everfrost
WQ combo will proc
Electrocute

Third reason: After procing

Electrocute
they'll have lower health to allow you to finish off with
Primordial Burst
to snowball quicker.

The other runes are just preferences.

Cheap Shot
for bonus damage after hitting
Event Horizon
.



Eyeball Collection
because you're normal.



Ingenious Hunter
because it reduces
Everfrost
and
Stealth Ward
cds.



Manaflow Band
because veigar need all the mana he can get now that they changed the greatness of old
Archangel's Staff
to a waste of an item.



Transcendence
because CDR = more stacks.

Skill order will always be this exact order.

1st point into

Baleful Strike
for stacking and poke stacking

2nd point goes into

Event Horizon
. This is to set up a level 2 gank or deny a level two gank. Going
Dark Matter
2nd would make stacking easier, but it costs too much mana and you need to get
Lost Chapter
before you can spam it

1st max

Baleful Strike
any chance you can get. It is
Veigar
's bread and butter for a reason. Maxing provides damage and cooldown reduction with each level allowing him to stack faster and more reliably than earlier levels.

Things get different from here. The 2nd max should be E his

Event Horizon
due to longer stun times to allow better teamfights and ability landing, but you will place 1 point into
Dark Matter
at level 8.

The reason for this is because getting stacks from melee minions is hard for

Veigar
most of the game. He can't one shot them like he can the casters after maxed
Baleful Strike
, but he can combo the full health melees with
Dark Matter
into
Baleful Strike
IF he has a 2nd point into
Dark Matter
. The 1 point allows
Dark Matter
to get the Melees low enough for
Baleful Strike
to last hit. Without he would have to auto attack the each melee once to get it low enough.

I prefer to get the most damage I can which is why the first three items are the trifecta of
Veigar
damage allowing even tanks to be one-shot



Everfrost
for the lockdown of champion movement to allow you to combo burst kills



Void Staff
to cut away any
Magic Resist
they could build to reduce your one-shoting ability.

Can be swaped with

Shadowflame
if: They have shields already in their kit or the enemy team doesnt build alot of
Magic Resist
in general.



Rabadon's Deathcap
for the increase of all stacks/future stacks by 35%. Swap this from third item to second if you're winning hard and can close the game early.



Horizon Focus
for the added damage boost when you stun combo wombo.

Veigar
is a team fighting god.



Event Horizon
has three uses in team fighting 1: Engaging 2: Disengaging 3: Zoning

I will not elaborate anymore on it.

Dragon/Baron Stealing



Veigar
after 25mins usually has enough

burst to steal objectives from most junglers besides

burst is up in the 3k damage mark)

Blue Buff

steal Blue Buff from any jungler they dont deserve you king.

Stacking

Stacking goals on

Veigar
for his
Phenomenal Evil Power
should be like Cs.

10 per minute. 100stacks @10, 200stacks @20, 300stacks @30, and so on

Try using

Baleful Strike
on two minions at once to save mana and increase efficiency. This can also be mixed with stacking a minion and hitting a champion at the same time. Prioritize stacking Cannon minions as they provide 3
Phenomenal Evil Power
.

Hello! as a fellow high elo veigar player, I'd like to offer my opinion

first of all, I think you did a great job creating this guide, and it can help a lot of beginners and maybe even intermediate veigar players, but I'd like to add my own 1m points veigar knowledge and maybe it'll help other players as well!

Ever since the durability patch, Veigar felt weak beacuse I couldn't punish player who disrespect him early, and not being able to solo kill people at level 6.

Soon after, the everfrost nerf made veigar lose his cage->everfrost->w combo, because the root became shorted than the w deploy time.

although the everfrost->E was Veigar's most important combo, I felt like the nerf along with the durability patch, made Veigar lose a lot of his solo kill power, and made me stop playing him for a while.

but recently I discovered a new (greedy) build to play!

I've been spamming Ludens->d cap veigar, with free boots and tressure hunter futures market, and free boots for the earliest power spike you can get

And most importantly- I take ignite. the reason for that is the solo kill potential, along side a new combo- Q->flash->Ignite->R for electro proc as well. this combo can easily oneshot squishy from 60% hp as early as level 6, and after ludens+boots even from 75% hp.

Try this build out and let me know how it feels!

also, I'd like to say a few things about the matchups-

into fizz and ekko, just start your combo with everfrost and after they're rooted you cage, didn't encounter the ekko/fizz that used their E to dodge the everfrost.

about fizz, the match is indeed hard, it's basically a race to the first item, the first person to get there, oneshots the other.

I'd recommend buying a null magic mental and just sit on it just to counter his penetration.

the katarina match is pretty easy if she goes full ap, but if she has the conq page it's a problem because of how much tenacity she gets off it, and you can't really ever everfrost->cage her, I usually go ludens against her and just oneshot her if she tries to jump on me, but do your best to poke her down before she can all in you so the oneshot is cleaner, anyway with ignite you shouldn't have an issue
