Fishy Yuumi Guide

Fishy Fishy fish for my guishy guishy guide

Yuumi, the Magical Cat (AKA "The cat that functions like an oversized Parasite")

Hi, I am IANN, a 150K mastery points Yuumi player at Low-Diamond MMR. This guide was made with a lot of fishy fishy fish. I will be updating this guide every time Yuumi has patch changes or the meta shifts drastically. Last Updated: Patch 13.7.

To better navigate this guide (this is not a quick guide, please use the Table of Contents to jump between topics). There is a fishy topic at the end of this guide.

Matchups & Synergies

Several Hard matchups and Perfect Synergies are explained below (use the button next to the search box to switch between threats and synergies). TLDR: For matchups, ban or avoid hook champions or champions that has poke mitigation. For synergies, best with on-hit reliant ADCs, the cherry on top is if they have some type of self-survival abilities.

Runes Pages

Most times Aery is the keystone to go, it is by far the best rune for offensive and defensive. Rarely you might want to go Dark Harvest against teams that are squishy with no significant burst, you can easily farm those souls up in lane if your Q hit rate is good. Always take Presence of Mind as the secondary rune to sustain your mana consumption.

Comet is meh when Aery exists, it does deal more damage on poke but your higher priority is really keeping your ADC alive, and Comet makes your shield thinner.

  • Standard Aery
  • Dark Harvest for squishy teams

Summoner Spells

Ignite and Exhaust are the standard summoner spells to take, use exhaust to fence off bursts from assassins or enemy ADC during all-in 2v2 trades in lane. Ignite provides kill pressure in lane and anti-heal later in the game. Swap exhaust for Heal if your ADC takes Exhaust instead.

  • Anti-Burst
  • ADC takes Exhaust

Skill Path

Almost always Q Max for poking in lane, however, there might be very rare situations where you want to E max if you know poking is not really going to work.

  • Standard Q Poke
  • Rare E Max

Item Builds

For lower ELO where the enemy is unlikely to build Anti-Heal or fails to execute the advantage mechanically, building Moonstone plus Heal Shield Power is the best build. For higher ELO (Plat+), a full utility build with Shurelya's and Mikael's is better since the enemy will likely buy an orb or sword after the first base.

  • Moonstone
  • Shurelyas

Game Macro

After the Yuumi rework on patch 13.5, you would most likely want to always stay with your ADC unless your ADC is really bad, you might want to hop onto your jungler after level 6.

During laning phase, you must be as annoying as possible poking the enemy duo with your Q, your Q accuracy is the key to winning the lane, since you will not be focusing on making space with the enemy duo, you should put more attention on tracking the enemy jungler and roams, warn your ADC or other teammates with pings (be nice with it, don't spam, if you have to spam, don't spam it on their faces), this might passively help you or your teammates avoid a deadly gank or roam.

After laning phase, look for plays with your jungler, try to deep ward their jungle SAFELY with the help of your jungler, and look for potential plays on objectives, losing one or two early dragons is fine, there is no reason to commit an objective if it is a losing fight that will put your team further behind or allow the enemy to make a comeback.

Game Micro

The more accurately your Q hits the enemy, the more pressure is being applied to the enemy duo and the more sustain (both healing and mana regeneration) you and your ADC will have in lane due to your Passive and Presence of Mind. Failing to hit Q repeatedly will deplete you of mana and put you in a very awkward situation. A few tips to hit more Qs:

- Your Q has a short period of "steering time", make sure to use this time as efficiently as possible, don't just let the Q free fly, make it as unexpecting as possible then at the very last moment turn it towards the enemy. - In lane, your Q does not always have to go sideways from the wave, there are times when the wave has gaps in the middle, use that gap. - Try to read how the enemy duo dodges your first Qs, then remember that pattern, and use it against them.

Your E is a very important ability both in lane and later in the game, although the CD is not huge, it still has downtimes, make sure to use it as efficiently as possible, timing it with the enemy abilities and bursts.

The ultimate ability can be cast early if needed, and the healing is automatically converted into shields, in higher ranks, make sure to watch for the enemy baiting your ultimate out. Your ultimate can be steered to heal your team more or chase the enemy down with the stacked slow.

Fishy Topic

Here you come, gonna debunk some myths: - You must be an e-girl: No, I am a grown-up man with an actual job. - Yuumi requires no mechanics: Not true, and it's even less after the rework in patch 13.5. - Yuumi is "braind3ad": Uhh, it is true that Yuumi takes away the need for "spacing" because she is always on her teammate, but if that is all about LoL, that's probably why you are hard-stuck silver and gold, there is a lot of micros and macros in the game that contributes to your skill level that even Pros are learning as they continue playing.

Are there pay-to-win skins? Well ... kinda: Yuubee and Heartseeker Yuumi, one has a smaller Q visual projectile and one has a fairly bending color palette.

Good luck on the Rift!
