The above is my ideal build, swap out

Morellonomicon
for
Zhonya's Hourglass
if you're new to the champion. Or swap
Rabadon's Deathcap
if you need the antiheal.

Introduction

Hi, I'm Rare. I started playing the game about a week before the Fiddlesticks rework came out, and when it did I instantly fell in love. I now have 2.3 million points on the scarecrow and peaked Diamond 3 69LP, after which I started playing toplane, and toplane violently took my LP (buff it Riot). I'm currently sitting on a 75.4% winrate over 61 games in jungle, and a 70% winrate over 10 games in toplane. I'm passionate about the champion so I wanted to make a guide, here it is.

Abilities

Passive:
A Harmless Scarecrow

Fiddle's silly and quirky gimmick passive. Can block skillshots after the creaking sound stops, it isn't solid right after you place it. Post-6 it will act as a stationary sweeper to help you set up for ults. Super low cooldown, pretty much making you a second support when it comes to warding. Consider taking

Zombie Ward
or
Ghost Poro
if you like this part of Fiddle's kit. Though
Eyeball Collection
is usually the most consistent.

Q:
Terrify

Point-and-click CC, does % current health damage, does double damage if used on a target that has recently been feared. You'll usually use this ability after fearing someone with either

Crowstorm
or
Reap
, but in the early game you'll just use it to gank or avoid 1v1's in the jungle. Does a surprising amount of damage lategame. Damage is capped against monsters.

W:
Bountiful Harvest

Your bread and butter basic ability. Has a 0.25 second windup time, after which you'll drain all targets in an area around you for 2 seconds, at the end of the channel it will also do a chunk % missing health damage and refund 60% of the remaining cooldown. The most fun part of this ability is its outplay potential thanks to the healing it provides. You'll heal for a portion of the pre-mitigation damage dealt to all targets, and because it deals % missing health damage, you'll basically be able to heal to full by using this ability on a low health tank. If you get good at using this, you can make Fiddlesticks look like a skirmisher. Also deals bonus damage to monsters.

E:
Reap

Does a little damage, slows for 1.25 seconds and enemies in the center are also silenced for 1.25 seconds. Use this to cancel channels and layer the silence with your

Terrify
to make sure no one can escape, no matter how many dashes they have. The only counters to that are tenacity,
Cleanse
or
Quicksilver Sash
.

R:
Crowstorm

Probably the reason you picked this champ, does a bunch of damage, has the potential to proc

Terrify
passive on 5 enemy champions at once. Pretty straightforward. Max damage combo is
Crowstorm
into
Terrify
into
Reap
as soon as the fear would end into
Bountiful Harvest

Runes

Runes are pretty simple,

First Strike
is simply the best rune for Fiddlesticks currently. The gold it provides is extremely useful and synergizes really well with
Future's Market
. When you take these runes you're already ahead in gold at 0:00. Take
Perfect Timing
for a free towerdive (or if you're into an
Olaf
to counter his R) or
Hextech Flashtraption
if you're cool and want to experiment with the unique invading options and ganks it provides, there's also some Fiddlesticks fear tech that lets you fear from a very long range with this rune, which I'll get to later in this guide. Take
Armor
or
Magic Resist
if you want. But always go double
Adaptive Force
, you'll need the AP for the clear.

The other options are there just because they're viable, but not ideal.

First Strike
is just too broken. If you want you can still play with other runes though, game is supposed to be fun after all. Feel free to swap around the secondary runes, I find the champion unplayable without
Ultimate Hunter
though.

  • Standard Stopwatch
  • Standard Hexflash
  • Glacial
  • Electrocute
  • Full Scale DH
  • Aftershock
  • Unhinged
  • Most Fun IMO

Items and stuff

My go-to Fiddlesticks build is full magic penetration. This is because Fiddlesticks does not scale with AP very well outside of

Crowstorm
.
Terrify
does % current health damage
Bountiful Harvest
does a little damage and then a big chunk of % missing health damage. And uh,
Reap
does pretty much no damage + the AP ratio is lackluster. With this build you'll end up with at most 81 | 40% effective magic penetration. Which allows your empowered
Terrify
to do 46%(!) current health damage to squishies and slightly tankier targets with a little MR. This way, you can pretty much oneshot most enemies with a
Reap
to fear, followed by an empowered
Terrify
to take away half of their remaining health, and a
Bountiful Harvest
to finish them off. You should always take
Flash
, never
Ignite
or
Ghost
. This is because
Flash
allows you to pull off some funky fear tricks which I'll get into later. Try to get
Sorcerer's Shoes
and
Dark Seal
on your first back, but if you don't have enough gold, just get
Sorcerer's Shoes
. You need ~940 gold to buy
Sorcerer's Shoes
if you take
Future's Market
. Once you've finished
Hextech Rocketbelt
you should try to predict if the enemy team will get some MR in the time it takes you to finish your second item, if they WILL get MR, go
Void Staff
. If they WON'T get MR, go
Shadowflame
. Fiddlesticks can also opt into buying tank items, this is because you'll already overkill squishies once you have all the mpen items, and going
Rabadon's Deathcap
is not really necessary. It's situational, really. Just figure out what would work best.
Spirit Visage
allows for a lot of outplay potential with
Bountiful Harvest
, especially if you've gotten really good at outplaying people with the healing the ability provides. And keep in mind that
Abyssal Mask
will remove ~21 MR from nearby enemy champions with this build, great into a bunch of MR stacking (it still won't save you from
Maw of Malmortius
or
Force of Nature
though...). If you're new to Fiddlesticks,
Zhonya's Hourglass
is fine. I just feel like it's better to get more damage, kill everyone before they kill you.
Terrify
passive will protect you. Of course, this does mean that landing a successful ult is even more important, but the tech near the end of this guide will help with that. Finally, go
Liandry's Anguish
if you're into a team that stacks a bunch of HP, no reason to get the item otherwise. You'll be wasting a lot of gold on mana if you buy this item every game.

Ability orders

Damage order is probably the best, but if you want you can go the utility route, the cc is pretty nuts in midgame.

Clear

Someone in China found a pretty insane Fiddlesticks clear. You can still double camp red buff and raptors, however, this is exclusive to redside. Video of the clear here:

https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1NT411m7GK/?spm_id_from=333.1007.top_right_bar_window_default_collection.content.click&vd_source=d200a543cce08e9c63a0462e0b225a72

The krugs tech is also applicable on blueside:

https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV12A411X7eW/?spm_id_from=333.788.recommend_more_video.1

(copy and paste the links into your address bar, OnlyGuides doesnt support BiliBili links).

I wish you many happy hours spent in practice tool getting consistent at this, it'll be worth it in the end, I promise.

Funky tech

Fiddlesticks has some really weird interactions with

Terrify
, and I honestly think these interactions make the champion broken. So make sure you practice these. King Fidd made a fantastic video explaining how these interactions work.

Then there's also the

Hextech Flashtraption
tech I was talking about in the Runes section. Someone made a video about that too, you need to buffer an ability during the
Hextech Flashtraption
channel, just like you need to buffer an ability during
Crowstorm
to extend your fears. Definitely a rune to consider taking, especially if you don't plan on taking
Zhonya's Hourglass
.

Final notes

I'm pretty sure I covered everything you need to know to consistently carry on this champion. Use your jungle knowledge to make the right choices, whether that be perma ganking botlane like I do, or powerfarming with the new gold buffs in patch 13.5 (just don't AFK farm). I am absolutely NOT qualified to tell you how to actually jungle with this champion, go watch Virkayu or something for that. I'm just showing all the builds and mechanics you should know about. I'll update this guide if anything important changes. Thanks for reading! P.S Fiddlesticks is a non-binary icon.
