Presence of Mind is your best friend. Almost every wave you should be looking to press W and then E to get a free heal and more mana than what you cast it with. Your worst enemy is getting frozen on the enemy tower, as you're immobile. Worst comes to worst, a good Brand will press R, Q stun 1, then E W making it a 1v1 and if the League Gods allow: a 2v1 and a mastery flash!

How does one play Brand Mid?
Good question myself. Brand is a strong wave clearing mage that specializes in teamfight damage and 1 for 1s. His R is a very easy ability but difficult to know when and how to use it.
What are some simple tips and tricks?
A very usual combo is W the wave while the enemy is in it (for melee match-ups) and E a minion close to your enemy. Now, if they try to engage on you, your stun is ready, and you can likely punish their retreat with a W, wining you the trade. Get ready to get used to feeling like a mage, you still have to mostly last hit with pitiful auto attacks. Your R will bounce to you or enemy minions, here are a couple scenarios: Your laner is low: W the wave, E, R a minion, watch it bounce to your laner, back to the wave, to them, 3 combo and likely death You 3 combo'd someone and they're almost dead: Brand's passive has a cooldown, so wait a little, then R them. The ult with pass back and forth between you and them if you're in range, so walk towards them when you ult.
Past 6 tips and tricks.
Don't be afraid to use W and E, Brand has a secret trick up his sleeve. Most players don't realize Brand's R counts as a spell... for some reason. If you get ganked with W and E down, don't be afraid to R + Q to stun and either engage or just leave. It's nearly instant, and can surprise many junglers after they saw you use your abilities to shove.
What's up with Moonstone Brand?
It's a concoction of madness I've come up with. Basically, Brand's passive will near full stack Moonstone when you hit only one ability, I've played games where I've done 3k in healing alone. Pair that with demonic and every ability hit is a couple hundred extra hp. The only downside is if the enemy is smart (which they often are) you'll be the first one to die. Therefore Zhonya's. When you Zhonya's try to R before, your R will bounce to you while in Stasis.
