Introduction
Hey guys. Im Beagle, Beags, whatever floats your boat. Im a current High Diamond ADC main.
Kai'Sa has been one of my personal favorites since her release in Season 8. She's one of the champs im most comfortable on, alongside
Lucian and
Vayne .
I overall fell in love with
Kai'Sa because of her high skill ceiling and overall great carry potential in all elos. Not only that, she has SO MANY build options, making her so adaptable every game. She also plays best with some of my favorite supports. Combine her aggressive playstyle with her high DPS output and you have yourself one hell of a carry.
If by any chance you guys have any questions, i'd love to answer them all, I also do OP.GG reviews to help you guys out. Please, check out my STREAM! I try to be as informative as i can and I'm trying to grow and help out all of you
Runes Explained
- Go-to Rune Page
- Vs. Multiple Tanks/Bruisers w/ Enchanter Support
- Go-to Rune page Breakdown
- Lethal Tempo Rune age Breakdown
Taste of Blood is a great rune for sustain, which
Kai'Sa wants plenty of due to her weak early game. Providing early lifesteal to our kit without the need of stacking bloodline yet is a great way to survive laning phase. Besides, there's no other rune in the row that's worth taking over .
Eyeball Collection is a rune purely for the raw adaptive stats that it gives per champion take down, it stacks up to 10 times with 1.2 ad per stack. Allowing
Kai'Sa to scale even harder than she already does.
Ultimate Hunter is now taken with the removal of Ravenous Hunter. This is easily her best now, Kai'Sa has a pretty high ultimate cooldown nowadays, ever since they nerfed it way back then. This rune makes it so its not as long at all stages of the game, making the assassin playstyle a lot more accessible considering your Killer Instinct is up more often! Combine that with the stacks of Eyeball Collection and you're on your way to becoming and mid-to-late game monster.
Biscuit Delivery is another rune that provides us with a little bit of early game help, which is exactly where
Kai'Sa struggles the most! Not only does it help us sustain through HP regeneration, but it also recovers A LOT of mana, which means you can opt to sling out spells more often to shove the wave and trade more often. against poke lanes is a STAPLE in my personal opinion.
Cosmic Insight is an awesome rune for
Kai'Sa considering she loves to duel. Not only does this rune lower summoner spell cooldowns, like and by a minute, meaning you look around the map for fights more often. But, it also lowers cooldown of if you're going one of the Builds listed below in your games.Lethal Tempo is an excellent scaling rune choice with GREAT potential. It's upsides are that it scales great into the later stages of the game and makes you dish out a TON of overall DPS through your Second Skin passive. The issue is, it's hard to use early game/throughout laning phase. Unlike Hail of Blades, this rune doesnt help with Kai'Sa's trading potential in lane in the slightest, so play to scale when using this rune!
Presence of Mind is another rune that helps Kai'Sa's weak early game. Kai'Sa is a spell slinging ADC, meaning, she uses abilities A LOT. Obviously, these abilities cost mana. This rune helps sustain that mana a little bit better. You get more value out of this rune over Overheal and Triumph.
Legend: Bloodline is a rune that just beats out the other 2 in the slot. Built in sustain is ALWAYS good. Having lifesteal from your runes means you dont have to spend the gold in game to itemize it. Bloodline helps you sustain great, as well as, you already are itemizing so much attack speed along with Lethal Tempo, you dont need the extra attack speed from Legend: Alactrity.
Cut Down as a rune, goes hand in hand with what this rune page is made for. Tank Shredding. Cut down as a rune is fantastic and is one of the most valuable runes an ADC can take when it comes to killing tanks and bruisers. Combine this with Kai'Sa's Second Skin plasma passive and she turns into a monster.
Transendence is more of a preference of mine, but since were going for scaling with this build anyway, Transendence is a great choice. Again, Kai'Sa loves throwing out abilities as much as she wants for max DPS output. Transendence makes better by adding more ability haste to your kit.
Gathering Storm is the ultimate LATE GAME rune. It's simple, the longer game goes on, the more adaptive stats you get. Making you deal more damage and dish out more DPS.
Lethal Tempo vs. Hail of Blades
When it comes down to
vs. , its all about what the enemy team comp looks like for the most part. Are you against hard tank champs like Zac, Darius and Leona, thats where comes in clutch. All of those champions i just listed take a while to cut down and kill, which means its really easy to stack up and keep it stacked which means more overall attack speed which also means MORE OVERALL DAMAGE. Lethal Tempo's fullest potential comes out when you have an enchanter support such as
Lulu or
Nami , champs that enhance your auto attack damage. Remember, Lethal Tempo is a very hard rune to get the hang of when playing it with a low range champion like Kai'Sa.
As for , you can genuinely get away with taking it every game as is a VERY hard rune to get the hang of, especially on a low range ADC like Kai'Sa. If they arent overly super tanky, take , trust me, it makes your laning phase WAY more tolerable.
For a more In-Depth rundown, please watch my video above. I go over the best scenarios of when to take the two runes!
ALL Kai'Sa Build Paths for Season 12
Beagle's On-Hit Hybrid
Early Q Evolve
So this build is BRAND new for season 12. This is MY personal build. I came and hopped on PBE and tested this out immediately the second I heard of AP/Passive scaling
Kai'Sa buffs and this build has been my GO TO BUILD since then. In my personal opinion, this build has some of the MOST CARRY POTENTIAL out of all the builds ive listed. From the survivability with and , the kiting potential, attack speed and on-hit from paired with makes this build the PREMIER build for
Kai'Sa currently. This is truly the build for 1V9ing.
When do I use this build?
Realistically you can get away with using this build almost every single game if you really want to. But this build truly gets its MOST VALUE when you need to kite a LOT and need some extra magic damage. But as i stated, you can go this build in all of your games if you truly want to! The MR from helps you sustain from AP mages and saves you from annoying assassins like
Zed and
Talon . Overall, this build is one of the best suited for almost every game.Use the video below to see me literally take inting teammates and PUT THEM ON MY BACK and completely 1v9 the game using this build.
Full AP Assassin
Early Q Evolve
This build is on par with my On-Hit Hybrid build listed above when it comes to CARRY POTENTIAL. This build you're going a FULL AP route, not prioritizing ANY AD physical damage. Remember, this is important: WITH THIS BUILD, ALWAYS PUT 3 POINTS INTO YOUR Q AND THEN MAX YOUR W FOR MAXIMUM POTENTIAL. Its extremely important to get your max order correct as it defines this build, getting your
Void Seeker to level 5 as quick as possible out of laning phase is important to minimize your
Void Seeker cooldown and maximize its damage. This build is all about hitting your
Void Seeker constantly from range for poke and then using
Killer Instinct +
Void Seeker combo to finish them off and completely one shot them. Figure out how to do/pull off the R+W combo in the "Combos" section of the guide. Also, use the skill order chart below to see how this build makes it change.
Kai'Sa
When do I use this build?
This build is FANTASTIC against ranged squishies when you have little to NO AP damage on your team. Take note that this build loses value if they have healing champs like
Soraka or
Senna . Or you're up against a spell shield champion like
Galio . Its not UNBUILDABLE, but it's a bit harder to pull off than typical.
Remember hitting your
Void Seeker is absolutely MANDATORY. Its all of your damage.
In the example below, i showcase full gameplay of the AP Assassin build and show its raw potential in a high elo Diamond 1 game. Please feel free to check it out to adapt your playstyle!Turbo Snowballing Korean Lethality
Early Q Evolve
This is ANOTHER brand new build for Season 12 that the Koreans cooked up. This one is all revolved around getting A HUGE early game lead and snowballing through the roof with the insane amount of burst this build offers on your
Icathian Rain . This build does tend to fall off, this is an early game oriented stomper build, so use it to that strength and try to end the game quick with your insane damage and pick potential. Keep in mind, your auto attack speed is SLOW. It's all about hitting your isolated
Icathian Rain s in this build as it's the majority of your damage. When do I use this build?
I typically only run this build when I'm duo'd with someone and garner a huge lead (3/0, 4/0, etc.) before first back as its snowballing potential and early game damage is unlike any of the builds here, its actually insane. So, only go this build with an overly large lead to end the game quick.
Unfortunately, I dont use this build a TON so i dont have full footage of it. Will update it when I do!
Phantom Dancer Kite Build
Early Q Evolve
Ok so, this build is centered around
Kai'Sa 's great DPS potential. With this build instead of prioritizing your early Q evolve like you would with the majority of
Kai'Sa 's builds. You prioritize full buying kraken. For the earliest Q evolve in this build, you need and 2 s. Once you get to your this build really starts to power on. is such a fantastic item for
Kai'Sa . It gives movement speed from attacks, it ghosts you, allowing you to move through units and most importantly, you get an insane amount of attack speed on max stacks of its passive. When do I use this build?
To start off, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BUILD FOR NEWER
Kai'Sa PLAYERS AS ITS BY FAR THE EASIEST TO UNDERSTAND AND USE. Now, you typically want to prioritize this
Kai'Sa build when you're against a lot of tanks/melee champs that you need to kite and dish out tons of DPS, hence why most of the time I'm going this build, im building as a third item and then an , most tanks and bruisers love armor, and the innate shredding potential with this build mixed with
Kai'Sa passive makes for an insane damage dealer. Here ill showcase a clip of me killing a full build
Garen while I'm an item down. I know this isn't the best example but, trust me, this build is great for beginners and gets the job done!Snowballing Galeforce Build
Early Q Evolve
This build is similar to the Korean lethality build listed above and is great for SNOWBALLING your lead against RANGED SQUISHIES.
to finish off kills and combo with
Killer Instinct , for easy access to your
Killer Instinct reposition and for assassination capabilities. And adding and for hard hitting burst power. When do I use this build?
So this build is great for a decent number of scenarios. Up against
Caitlyn and
Xerath ? Maybe
Ezreal and
Lux ? is GREAT here as long as there's 1 tank or less on the enemy team. Using to get into range of those champs and then ulting to them is a great way to deal with them during laning phase. Once you walk out of laning phase into the mid game, that's when this build turns on once you get . You switch up your playstyle to more of a pick/assassin type and look for
Void Seeker snipes into a fast
Killer Instinct >
Icathian Rain > combo for a quick kill. This build is all about snowballing and punishing those squishies for being out of position, so play to that!
In the example below, it's a full gameplay video of how to ACTUALLY play the build out of laning phase and punish people for making positional mistakes. Please take a look!
Kai'Sa's Matchups
WORST MATCHUPS
I RECOMMEND PERMA BANNING
Draven as a newer
Kai'Sa player. This is arguably her worst matchup. Not much counter play to Draven as a whole, your support matchup matters the most in this one. Take into this lane. Its really hard to out-trade MF as she has her Passive with her Auto to
Double Up combo. Also, comet is taken SOMETIMES, so it makes it that much harder to lane.
Kai'Sa is also low range, so she risks taking the guaranteed crit from her Q for trying to farm! Tread carefully against this champion.Wondering why
Kai'Sa herself is in here? You can be your own worst enemy if you take the incorrect fights. Avoid fighting in minions as your Q distribution will go to more than one target, thus making you do FAR less damage. Try to fight ISOLATED.She's not picked much as an ADC anymore BUT in the rare instance she is, she still is extremely dangerous against
Kai'Sa . She has her W to counter your E and R, stopping you from repositioning or attempting to run away.HARD MATCHUPS
Ashe will always be annoying as its how the champion is designed. She has 75 more range than
Kai'Sa , good poke and high utility. Pair all of that with her chase down ability with and you have yourself a tough lane. Surviving this lane and playing around your support's engages are most important here! She's really immobile.
Xayah is definitely a rough lane for
Kai'Sa , you guys share the same auto attack range but she has her W which amps her damage and attack speed overall. While trading autos, she puts feathers behind you, up until 6, you don't have a guaranteed way to dodge her feathers. Be careful and look to dodge her Q poke.I only put
Kalista here because 90% of the time she's picked, its with a hard engage support. Combine that with great all in potential, especially at 6, it can make it a tough lane.Tristana can be a really tough lane for any champion, not just
Kai'Sa . Her all in ability with Hail of Blades and
Explosive Charge is INSANE. Take exhaust here and watch for level 2 all ins.A good
Vayne can be an issue, she has higher range and some higher damage/trade potential than you because of the way her passive and work. She's doing the same as you and looking to farm and scale because her early game is extremely weak. Try to abuse it but beware cause her trading potential can be way better than you.Cait is honestly a really tough matchup for most
Kai'Sa players. All inning her at level 1 is KEY and not letting her shove you in freely is the best ways to beat Cait. She's very weak against all in champs and thats exactly what Kai'Sa is. Try to survive till level 6 and it'll become a lot easier.Jinx's popularity has spiked due to Arcane and so has her winrate. The buffs they gave her really made her a must pick in the ADC role, she outranges Kai'Sa throughout the ENTIRETY of the game. Make sure to punish her if she ever walks in range of you, you typically win trades with Hail of Blades > W > Q. She scales VERY WELL so beware.
EVEN MATCHUPS
Varus isn't too bad as long as you watch for his poke with
Piercing Arrow . He'll try to throw down his E on top of you when you walk up for CS, so just be weary here and try not to take too much damage. This lane is only even if you dont respect his W. He'll use it often to either farm or poke, so just back away, wait it out and he's free game till its back up.
Samira has been dumbed down a lot since her release, she's only good with high cc supports or those with knock ups. Its really hard for
Samira to kill you early game as she has lower range than you at 500. She HAS to rely heavily on her support to make a move.
Twitch isnt that big of a deal as long as you respect his invisibility and level 6 spike. Dont willingly take his passive stacks from his W, his early game is very weak.EASY MATCHUPS
Jhin is meta as of now, but he has an attack speed limiter compared to your , Passive and W trading pattern. Its hard to lose lane unless you really mess up.There isnt much of a threat
Sivir has. Especially this season, she only has 500 AA range to your 525, abuse it. Use Q to get rid of spell shield and then W. Really EASY to bully. This is by far the easiest lane in the game for
Kai'Sa . Its a full farm lane and Ezreal's early game is EXTREMELY weak. Play behind minions and don't get poked out and there's no way to lose this lane.Kai'Sa's Support Synergies
BEST SUPPORTS
For the same reason as
Leona , he applies your passive stacks extremely easily, his level 2 all in is incredible as well as his ability to peel and set up easy kills with R.
Lulu has ridiculous poke potential in early laning phase. Her shield boosts our damage through the roof at the mid stages of the game and her peel is great with
Whimsy (Polymorph) and her ultimate ability.GOOD SUPPORTS
Pantheon is an awesome cheesy support with
Kai'Sa . He has great, easy all-in potential with his point and click CC. His burst is also really good with his Q and PTA. You have a ton of kill potential in this lane.I know this one is a bit unorthodox but,
Anivia is a wonderful addition to bot lane when you play
Kai'Sa ! She sets you up really easily with Ice Wall and Stun. Combine that with her R damage with your full combo, it makes for a nasty lane.Blitz is awesome and has some of the best pick potential in the game with his fast/long hook range. Be careful though, if he misses it, they can play aggressive because of his long cooldowns.
Maokai is a pretty interesting support pick. He has good hard engage and poke potential. Watch for his flash engagements and be ready to follow up as he stacks your passive.
Pyke stacks your passive really easily and is a great support. He spreads gold between you and him at level 6 constantly and has some decent damage in the early game. He can also play a really safe playstyle, making it a solid pick with
Kai'Sa .When is
Braum not an awesome pick with anyone?! He's a great support with
Kai'Sa as well, you proc his passive stacks really easily with autos, setting you up for a full combo after the stun. His peel is really awesome too. With Shield and Knockup at level 6, this makes for a really intimidating lane.
Alistar is one of the best champs to stack Kai'Sa passive. Farm till level 3 and then look to engage with him.
Rakan and
Kai'Sa mesh really well together! Look to all in at level 2 when he gets his W. After that, farm till 6 while looking for opportunities to follow up on his engages.OK SUPPORTS
Im taking solo queue into account with
Nami and its the only reason i dont put her in the "Strong" category, she's overall a really good caster support like
Lulu , as she enhances your damage and sets your passive up with bubble and her ultimate.
Lux can either 2v1 your lane or completely grief you. Just let her poke and do her thing and try to follow up on cc as if she DOES hit her Q root, the burst you guys do is INSANE.
Karma has great early levels regarding her poke. Its important to take smart trades with her shield and play around her poke.
Soraka isnt necessarily bad with
Kai'Sa as she provides great sustain in poke lanes and also has good poke herself. Apart from that, she needs time to scale into the mid game.Taking solo queue into account,
Brand can be a menace in lane and help you out tremendously. He has a crazy amount of damage and its really hard to walk away from a 2v2 unscathed with his R ability. For the safety aspect of things, Tahmmy boy is a great pick, he cant get you out of most situations with his eat ability. Apart from that, he doesnt provide a whole lot.
Zyra is another one of those hard poke champs, similar to
Brand . You cant disrespect her damage or you'll die solo 1v2 to her, therefore, she helps you farm in lane a lot more than typical.
Zilean is a really iffy support for me as i mainly play around his Level 6 ability. When you guys hit 6, look to fight and take huge trades as you have 2 lives to do so.She has good disengage tools if people jump on
Kai'Sa with her R and shield abilities. Not to mention, as of now she's extremely broken.Ah, Sona 2.0, She does everything
Sona does but better (kind of), which is why she's higher than
Sona herself. She has good range, poke and good CC, all of which help you out.WORST SUPPORTS
Yuumi doesnt provide
Kai'Sa with anything that helps her in lane. She doesnt stack passive Plasma well. Her sustain isn't enough to keep you alive in lane. Overall, not the best pick with The Daughter of The Void.As i stated on the
Seraphine notes. This champ was already bad with Kai'Sa, but now there's really no reason to lock her in period. She doesnt provide anything to you. Her heals are lack luster, Poke is minimal and her ult is underwhelming. Troll pick, dodge if you get.If the
Vel'Koz is smurfing out of his mind, it'll be an extremely easy lane, 9 times out of 10, that's not the case. He doesn't stack your Passive well, he's super squishy and extremely easy to get on to. Bad, bad, bad.
Combos
R+W Combo
In my personal opinion, I believe, this is ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT things to master on
Kai'Sa It surprised your opponent with burst and kills in situations you typically wouldnt be able to. Its basically a guaranteed way to land your
Void Seeker for surprise burst and finishing power. To do it, you press W mid
Killer Instinct animation and flick your mouse cursor to the direction you'd like your
Void Seeker to go.Check out all of these in-game examples
R Auto Attack Reset
This one should be like bread and butter for you, I use it all the time. Its practically muscle memory for me and can make or break a fight for you. Dishing out damage as fast as possible is important. You're using
Killer Instinct as an auto attack reset.
I could probably find far more examples, but they're all over the place in my replays, so i found one that you may like and provided a quick presentation!
Final Tips
When by herself with one singular enemy,
Kai'Sa 's
Icathian Rain does more damage as it doesn't spread around to multiple enemies, instead, focusing all the little rockets on one singular target. AVOID FIGHTING IN MINIONS WHEN POSSIBLE. Try to fight isolated as often as possible.
Much like
Jinx
Zap! ,
Kai'Sa 's
Void Seeker comes out even when CC'd. Use it before hand!
Use
Killer Instinct Instinct to escape over walls, doing so could save your life and not force you to use valuable summoners like . Here's an EXAMPLE
Kai'Sa 's level 1 is really strong. Try to look to fight if the matchup favors your level 1.
Your
Supercharge ghosts you. Meaning, you can walk through creeps without getting creep blocked. Conclusion
Kai'Sa overall is an extremely fun and rewarding champ to play (most of the time). Her skill ceiling can is high and her more in depth stuff is harder to learn but I can in all honesty say it's worth the journey! If you have ANY QUESTIONS regarding Kai'Sa or any ADC, go ahead and stop by my stream. Id be more than happy to answer them.
Also, i do have a YOUTUBE channel as well, if you'd be willing to check out that, i have more Kai'Sa content on there as well! My peak rank is Masters 20 LP and RANK 11 Kai'Sa in North America, both stats not the absolute best, but it's definitely some credibility.
